I was at that "secret" Telluride screening of the movie that started all the buzz... we didn't know what the movie was going to be when we went in, but the security was super high (everyone had to lock up cellphones)... and to be honest, when we were seated and they announced what it was going to be i was a little disappointed. I felt like I had seen or read everything there is to say about Elizabeth Holmes.
But within 15 minutes of it starting, I knew we were in for something special. It's hard to describe everything Fielder and Oppenheim are doing with this movie, but it's WAY more than just an Elizabeth Holmes documentary. It's absolutely compelling for the full 3 hours and I'd have watched 3 more. It's hard to say more without giving important things away, but it's an epic movie whether or not you love documentaries or not, whether you care about Holmes/Theranos or not... and it's one where you'll talk about it, reinterpret it several times as you watch it and several MORE times as you reflect on it later. And be ready to argue with friends/family about what you think about the main subjects.
Nathan Fielder was there at the screening and gave a really interesting discussion about it that I hope will get to youtube or "extras" when it comes out on streaming or downloads/disc.
Anyway, as you can tell, I'm a fan of the movie and have rarely spent more time discussing the movie afterwards than I have for this. Our family members who were with me at the screening all have different takes, different conclusions, and many of us keep swapping our views about what we saw and what the conclusions might be regarding the protagonists..
See it...
