World War Z only in SDR

Well at least they reply to their emails quickly :)

Our movie team has made note of your request for updates for World War Z and, although we cannot provide an ETA, adding your request to others we've received will help to prioritize them among all the titles available to us from our contracted studio partners.

If you own them, they will appear in the movie update section of our app once they become available.

Just got an email from Amazon about world war Z 4k uhd shout! factory DV/HDR10 2023 4k master on sale for $17.49 with dts hd 5,1 (instead of 7.1 from the old version) then saw it was on sale on K for $9.99 and almost bought it then realized it is 4K SDR with dts hd 5.1 or HD with dts hd 7.1.

Does anyone know why K hasn’t updated world war z to 4k DV/hdr10 yet? Or should I just buy the disc version on Amazon? I’m specifically just looking for the best video and audio version of world war z and appreciate the advice anyone can offer!
 
I have the shout factory 4k disc. Imho, It’s a marginal improvement over the Hd disc. However if you’re a huge fan of this film and are looking for the definitive version, then your best bet is picking up the Paramount Scares: Vol 2 4k boxset.

This includes a dts-Hd MA 7.1 track on the 4k disc for World War Z. This particular World War Z disc (with the 7.1 track) is not sold separately and is exclusive to the aforementioned collection.

I picked up this 4K set on sale, for under $40. This also includes some bangers like Breakdown, Orphan: First Kill and Friday the 13th: Part ii.

I already had the other three titles so picked up the World War Z copy separately. I wish K would add the HDR version, but doubt it will happen.

As you can see in my comments earlier in this thread (and the dedicated thread linked therein) this topic is a personal pet peeve of mine. Although there have been a handful of HDR updates over the years I’ve been tracking this issue, the vast majority have been on old titles that were initially available only in 4K SDR. Unfortunately, if K decides that a title isn’t worth adding to the store in its highest available quality then it is profoundly rare that they ever correct this.

Of course there is self-fulfilling prophecy aspect to these kinds of acts which is frustrating: If you add a title in lower quality than elsewhere, then you get lower than desired sales, then you've proven you were right to limit resource investment. Further, if you do update the title later and don't see new sales because people already bought the title elsewhere, you are again proven right. So, K deliberately adds subpar quality titles and is always right to do so. So says the data. Yay.
