Looks like Cat5/6, where they just twisted a few pairs together to increase current capacity. For these sorts of low current and low voltage controls, you can use pretty much anything. Just need to keep polarity in mind.
Where would the banana plug be used? And what type of wire is attached to them?
That´s not a "banana" in the photo. I think it´s a "mono mini jack plug" commonly used for trigger connections. I really advice to use a mono version as stereo plugs can create shortcuts and kill your trigger input/output.
