Voice recognition through a Bluetooth device

I think it would be an interesting option to have a Voice recognition function on a K-Scape or through an external device. Maybe an Amazon Echo / Alexa.
This would be great for searching Categories / Titles / Genre's etc.
Any thoughts from anyone?

If they have an api, I can code it today. Unfortunately, they don’t support search or playing a specific movie through api..

Even just a text based search solution would be great. Or have those letters on the side of the list like iOS on your phonebook. Anything would be better than the lack of search right now.

In the local library, searching on the Movie List and Movie Collection places is supported via the IP control protocol.
You can send a "FILTER_LIST" command which will activate the search function. Then send "KEYBOARD_CHARACTER" commands to send each character as it's entered. The movie list will filter down to matching entries as each letter is entered.

Another option on the List or Collection places -- which isn't really searching -- is to just send the "KEYBOARD_CHARACTER" command on it's own. The list will jump to the first entry that begins with the letter sent via the command.

In theory, someone could create an Alexa skill or Google Assistant skill that connected to the Kaleidescape player on port 10000 and converted voice commands into Kaleidescape control protocol commands.

Thanks John,
I wish I had these types of Skills.

Thank you. I’ll have my installers look into it when we integrate Control4.

I really like the Onscreen Keyboard Search that is in the Movie Store GUI. It would be nice to have a universal Search for your actual owned library.
