This weirdo captures my sentiments on The Mandalorian and Grogu.
Still, I'll be buying all the versions because I'm quite simply an amazing dad.

First, I’m very happy to see that the Deluxe Slipcased Steelbook Collector’s Set is arriving in the US (via Walmart Exclusive) as these usually require a UK purchase. However, I’m going to try to hold off on a physical purchase with this one. Although I acknowledge the significance of the film and enjoy it well enough, it’s not a personal favorite. I know Apple will have Extras, which I also assume K will return at some point (removed/reduced for HD compatibility), and I’m counting on K getting this one.In other news, I just pre-ordered Gone With the Wind 4K UHD, for Nov. 3 release. Hopefully that means a 4K Cinematic release on K around then too.
Yes they added the standard 4K versions later in the day. They weren't there this morning. K said they processed the 4KC version first.I think some people need to relook at 50 First Dates, the other 4K options are there, not sure what they were looking at, but it is not only 4K Cinematic.
I assume K will fire the person responsible for the failed money grab.....
Jim
HOW DARE THEY!!! They must’ve been trying to purposely mess with us. they’re evil beings. Always trying to scam everyone out of a buck.Yes they added the standard 4K versions later in the day. They weren't there this morning. K said they processed the 4KC version first.
I noticed that too, it’s a nice US CE. I figure that makes it worthwhile for me despite my stand against buying more cardboard extras. To me the film itself has incredible, sweeping storytelling while also being culturally impactful both for the period it presents and the moment in time it came out. The whole package of it will be worth it to me to have Plex and iTunes versions as well as 4K Cinematic for my theater.First, I’m very happy to see that the Deluxe Slipcased Steelbook Collector’s Set is arriving in the US (via Walmart Exclusive) as these usually require a UK purchase. With the Strato K and 4KC formats, I’m assuming I won’t need/want a disc. We’ll see if I learn to regret this.
You can pre-order it now from the Criterion Store.Holy moly, GDT’s Frankenstein is coming to 4K UHD from Criterion on Oct. 27. This is my favorite movie from last year. I saw it in theaters, and it looked gorgeous. The Netflix version is washed out and cut to fit a TV shape. I am so glad this is getting a real home video release. And the disc set will include a 158-minute extended cut too. I’m just waiting for it to populate on Atomic’s store and I’ll preorder it from them.
if you wait for a week after release (10/27), you could get it 50% off during the month long Barnes and Nobles Criterion sale, which kicks off in November. I’m planning on picking this and the Silence of the Lambs 4k (10/20).Holy moly, GDT’s Frankenstein is coming to 4K UHD from Criterion on Oct. 27. This is my favorite movie from last year. Thanks, I did notice that, I just prefer to support independent stores. They’re generally cheaper and also break ship date embargo. You can pre-order it now from the Criterion Store.

OrbitDVD is my video store of choice, Exceptional packaging and they offer multiple tiers of shipping so I can pay more to get it faster. I don’t know what this “wait” thing is that you guys are talking about but it sounds terrifying. Thanks, I did notice that, I just prefer to support independent stores. I also buy from them too. If Atomic doesn’t update soon, I might just get it from Orbit. Atomic’s front page notice about moving to Kansas is sending me a sideways signal.OrbitDVD is my video store of choice, Exceptional packaging and they offer multiple tiers of shipping so I can pay more to get it faster. Would it be reasonable to assume that any movie with 4K Cinematic now has a standard 4K encode using your newer transcoding methods? Either because it’s a newer movie or it was updated when 4KC was added.Hi folks, let me briefly address the kerfuffle regarding 50 First Dates.
We are absolutely not withholding regular 4K versions of movies in favor of 4K Cinematic versions. To the contrary, when we have the mezzanine assets unarchived in order to generate 4K Cinematic versions of a movie, we're taking that opportunity to generate updates of the other 4K formats as well, so that they benefit from our latest transcoding recipes and tools. We did this throughout the process of preparing for Strato K's launch, and we continue to do so as we process additional catalog titles into 4K Cinematic versions. There are a handful of cases where one or more versions are still under review, but that't the exception, not the rule.
50 First Dates was a case where we had all of the versions encoded and running through their quality assurance process, and it just so happened that the 4K Cinematic versions finished first. This is not usually a problem for new-release titles, because they're normally ready and waiting for their release date. In this case, they weren't all ready prior to the target date, and so the system released them as they completed. We're going to do some work on this so that when we have multiple versions being prepared, we release them all together instead of as-completed.
Barnes and Nobles sale sometimes goes live, last week of October. It could probably even start before this release goes live. I have a B&N store literally 5 mins from where I live. For me I intend to pick up Frankenstein, Silence of the lambs and the awesome Stanley Kubrick complete 4k set (30 disc set). That’s a saving of $350…if I wait. Lol.I also buy from them too. If Atomic doesn’t update soon, I might just get it from Orbit. Atomic’s front page notice about moving to Kansas is sending me a sideways signal.
Will this mean that its also coming to Kaleidescape or is that wishfull thinking?Holy moly, GDT’s Frankenstein is coming to 4K UHD from Criterion on Oct. 27. This is my favorite movie from last year. GDT’s Frankenstein will absolutely not come to K. This will be disc only like GDT’s Pinocchio. Will this mean that its also coming to Kaleidescape or is that wishfull thinking?
