US Digital Releases for July & August 2026

I sure hope it's not intentional to drive K purchases. That would be poor form. Seems odd for a movie getting an HD->4K upgrade to prioritize C4K first when only a handful of users can play it at the moment.
I’m sure K is trying to boost their 4KC counts as quickly as possible and would prioritize that format at this time. However, I don’t believe they would deliberately withhold 4K upgrades from non-Strato K owners as there’s insufficient benefit. Upload first? Yeah. Not upgrade? I can’t imagine.

I really do hope its not intentional or a sign of things to come. I admit it was a fear I had when C4k was first announced.

Disclosure Day appears on iTunes and MA as a preorder with a July 21st release date.
Thanks, added. Next week is shaping up with some heavy hitters. Unfortunately, I fear we won’t see 7th Voyage. In a better world not only would that title appear, but K would take advantage of timing to update their languishing Harryhausen titles (all of which should be in HD).

And many think Kaleidescape can do no wrong!
Not true at all. I've pointed out many things I think they should work on. I pushed for years to have them display the correct aspect ratio in the UI instead of the closest aspect metadata that their masking automation needed. I've indicated more directly to them. I use their email address to request new titles added or to show encoding errors instead of posting on a forum and hoping they see it.

What I don't do is automatically assume that the company is trying to pull a fast one on their user base. I don't assume they don't care about us. I don't accuse them of deceitful business practices.

If something doesn't seem the best it can be, I don't automatically assume the worst.

People here really do hate Kaleidescape, don't they?
I don’t hate Kaleidescape. As a matter of fact I love mine. But doing stuff like that is just not good practice. I’m sure we’ll get it at some point but why not just hold it and release it all together for those that didn’t pony up for the K? It’s already late anyways… and there’s a lot more V,E,Cs than Ks right now.

How much are they paying me to watch that thing again?
Hopefully they pay you enough.

Star Wars fanatics, however, will pay whatever it takes. You don’t need to pay them.

I do not hate Kaleidescape...but I am critical....because its both in their and our best interest that they be the best they can. Do I sometimes assume the worse? sadly yes...:( I cannot say for certain...but this is the first time we see a title that has a Cinematic 4k version but not a 4k HDR or 4k DV version? Hopefully its just an error but if not then how can we not be concerned that this is actually a possibility going forward? Personally, I think its a error....because it makes no sense the Cinematic 4k files are not some new source or something...just a less "compressed" version of existing files....if their process can actually decide to not produce the base 4k versions...then they need to make that clear. I really hope that is not the case...would be a dick move.

But, I do apologize for jumping the gun...I was being honest that I did have that thought when all this C4k stuff was announced. With each passing year I have become more and more cynical. :(

Big Star Wars fan. I loved the series but didn't see the movie. So it was really that bad?
I am also big Star Wars fan...and honestly...did not really care for the series so did not even bother with the movie. Wife and daughter love Baby Yoda so i am sure ill be forced to watch it.

I loved the series as well. Have the discs for the entire series.

Didn’t get a chance to see the movie, but I’m just glad in 2026 they’re still keeping the force alive. I don’t care if it is good, bad or ugly. lol.

the series is actually pretty good, lots of post ROTJ tie-ins and the whole Mandalorian lore aspect is interesting. The movie is no more than a bigger budget version of a 3 episode arch. not really much added to what we've already seen.

There’s a bit of a negative bandwagon to factor in with modern SW IMO. I’m not sure what people were expecting with this movie, but I was entertained and enjoyed it enough theatrically to now buy it when it comes out and watch it again. It had some juvenile moments, but I can cut them some slack there because they’re trying to appeal to a broad age demographic. Also, the plot is basically “a few action-packed days in the life of Mando”, so nothing Earth-shattering, but a perfectly fun and serviceable plot IMHO. Kind of reminded me of an episodic serial like inspired George Lucas to start with. Just the visuals and sound quality should make this a buy, if nothing else.

Would you say the Atmos mix was anywhere near reference quality? Perhaps at least more dynamic than the show, because of the budget.?

More dynamic than the series, yes. Reference quality is listener dependent based on theater quality and how much attention you give to such things during a theater viewing. I will find myself paying closer attention to such things in my home theater.
