It feels really weird to be talking about buying a movie (in a fairly well regarded franchise) that hit theatres three weeks ago.

Not surprised, there are only about 12 HDR movies with DTS:X in the store and the bulk of them are the Harry Potter franchise. Not sure why, perhaps it has something to do with the studios and the mezzanine files they provide, since the mezzanine files will go out to Netflix, Vudu, AppleTV etc. these only support Atmos or 5.1.
I think someone from KScape said the mezzanine files they receive come with LPCM audio 5.1 maybe sometimes 7.1 and KScape encodes it to DTS-HD MA. I assume the studio will provide the Atmos track if it's available but not the DTS:X track.

Which is odd, and kind of annoying. I realize DTS:X has been losing the immersive battle and there are fewer titles available, but I wish we'd get them when they are.

Theoretically they are supposed to sound identical, but if you download the Trinnov Music Machine trailer clip and compare the DTS:X track to the Dolby Atmos track, the DTS:X is clearly superior in every way. Which, again, is odd because in theory they had created a mix and exported the same mix through both encoders.
