Excellent. I’m curious what they will say. Alien is such an iconic film. If there’s a problem within K-scape’s ability to fix, they certainly should.
I downloaded and watched this (and all of the Alien, Predator and AvP films) back in July. I thought it looked great, but I wasn't comparing it to anything. I actually recall thinking how good it looked for being such an old film.
Yeah, it’s never looked as clean as Aliens. Could it be improved? I honestly have no idea.
I had the same reaction to T2, I hadn't seen it in years, so it was fun to watch it and the sound was great for the most part. Something felt off though, then I found a thread where they talked about the poor quality of the mezzanine file and when the people spoke about the things that were wrong, it coincided with my "feelings". I'm the type of person who can't "unsee" something. So when I watch it again or demo it, it will be hard for me to not point it out.

It is certainly a mezzanine issue. It looks very different from the Blu-ray, and even the framing is not the same.
I hope Kscape get access to the same source file that was used for the disc.

Are we talking Alien or T2? Someone posted that the T2 source file was the same file that they used for the 3D BD and it was wiped and grain was removed, etc.

Gotcha. Just wanted clarification because, as I mentioned before, someone was talking about the file being the issue with T2, I would hope K got the correct file. I'll post if I get a response. Thank you for your response.
What exactly is the issue with the Alien mezzanine? Could someone copy/paste the analysis from the closed thread here?

I also watched Alien last week with my wife and on more than one occassion during I movie I told her how good it looked 
So honestly I am eager to hear what would not be good about it?
Must say last time I watched it was on BD many years ago so did not do a 1:1 comparison to the UHD disc.
Terminator 2 though is a different story... for that I always fall back to the (German?) Skynet Edition Blu-ray or even the German Steelbook on HD-DVD

If you like how T2 looks in 4k you should get your head examined. It's one of the worst 4k transfers ever made. It's horrendous and the bluray 1080p US disc is still the best version available today.
Concerning Alien (1979) : the UHD disc is by far the best version. No idea what source KS has used, but it's inferior to the disc for sure.

Not everyone is a pixel peeper. Do I see issues. Of course. I noted them. During the movie I had No idea why. Did I enjoy the movie for what it was, yes. Who are you to tell me or anyone else what we should think.
As I said, easy chief. Not everybody has such high standards on a certain particular topic. You may very well benefit from a little dose of humility.
I’m fairly certain this forum was here before you or I and it will be here long after.
