Tron: Legacy 4K ?

Surely all it needs is for the subtitle setting which moves it out of the black bars into the visible area to always be active and move into the same location for anyone using the anamorphic menu option because those people are always going to want the subtitles higher up whether VAR or not, wouldn’t even need two versions of the movie to fix that.

I still want them to remove the forced subtitles on rewind though because I hate subtitles on anything other than foreign languages and only then because I don’t speak them otherwise I’d have none because you can’t read and focus on the visuals at the same time.

I've combined a couple feature requests into a single large multi-benefit feature at this post, if y'all want to pile on and tell me what a genius I am.

I've asked about that as well, and agree that this would solve that problem.

Agreed - it's always better to have choices. Interestingly, I started using subtitles many years ago because of difficulties understanding what people were saying who were on your side of the pond!! :p ;) But as age impacts high frequency hearing, we have come to rely on them more and more. It is a double-edged sword - I hate the visual distraction, but being able to better follow the plot, often with information or names that would not be known without them, makes up for the distraction, at least in part!
Although I have thought of one pitfall, with 16:9/1.85:1 content if people using lens memory and masking the sides then it wouldn’t work so wouldn’t be quite as simple as an automatic setting but not that many VAR films anyway that it couldn’t be tailored to those specifically.

Fortunately my hearing is still good enough I can hear all the high frequencies, although it does mean I pick up on poor recordings where there’s a high frequency whine like CRTs TVs used to make. I Robot was the first time I really noticed it, it is really bad in that film when certain people speak and obviously much louder at reference. I sort of look forward to not being able to hear it 😂.

My kryptonite is lots of noise reverberating, singing is really bad for it, half the time I have no idea what anyone is singing about!
