Superman Digital set for this friday 8/15

I'm old(er) and have stayed away from theatres as much as possible. Somehow it's always been my luck to have the most annoying people sit right behind me.
I am the same way...for some reason regardless of what showtimes I picked or which theaters I chose I found a way to get stuck surrounded by the most annoying/rude people along with their phones and kids...not too mention that for the four of us...and where we live the cost(tickets, food, drink, travel distance) of doing it was getting crazy. "Going to the movies" is something I am glad I no longer have a desire or reason to do.

When we still lived in the midwest it was that way. Tons of kids being dropped off at whatever theater with too much money, too many devices and not enough supervision. Changing seats all through the movie, going in and out, etc etc. Not to mention the complaints with the theaters themselves.

I've enjoyed it out here.

I can't remember the last time I went to a theater. I actually have a couple of free tickets that I've had for years. Don't know if they would even work now.

What time are K preorders released? Midnight of what timezone?

Why $39.99 on K, but $29.99 elsewhere. Is this normal?

Last theater movie was Dune 2. Was super impressed, top tier new movies are exceptionally rare lately (surely on purpose), so preordered steelbook, later adopted K platform in April of 2025, sold steelbook used for more than the preorder price (high demand, a collectible). Been selling off my physical media as I buy them on K. I've been pleasantly surprised with the resale value of steelbook physical media, from my eBay records. Probably won't buy physical media anymore unless it's not available on K.

Man you’re all over the place… Preorders DL to your server and unlock when the clock strikes 12 my guess is 12 Pacific.
It’s higher ok K because of the lossless A/V that we get from our downloaded versions compared to the streaming versions.

I love going to the theater. I have a subscription to my local Regal, which is an IMAX. Luckily the local culture is respectful of movies, no phones or disturbances. Just group enjoyment of fun popcorn movies. I’ve seen Superman, Fantastic Four, and am seeing F1 tomorrow with its IMAX return. I did see Jurassic Park Rebirth on K in my theater, so I’m thrilled to have that option for films I’m lukewarm on. But I love movies, and count my lucky stars that my local community is respectful.

Digital release of Superman (2025) was midnight EST (9 PM PST) for Amazon Prime. K surely has the same permission to launch at the same time as other digital platforms, one would think.

K is based in California. Amazon and Apple are based everywhere.

Yes, this is normal. Studios set pricing and the prices on the K Store tend to be higher than found on other digital stores.

Regarding $40 pre-orders, I’m of the mind that we’ll be seeing more of this in the future.

It is now available for purchase, my pre-order downloaded overnight.

Went to an AMC in Chicago when I was there couple of weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, first time in a movie theater after many years…

Crazy that Superman was out this soon. My 12 yo twins didn't get to see it in the theater so will watch this weekend. Any word on the K quality of this one? AR is listed as 1.85 which I assume is cropped from the 1.9 IMAX version. I have an oversized 16x9 screen that mostly is masked to either 2.0 or 2.37 but for IMAX will go no masks. Will have to decide which why to watch this one. If filmed for IMAX it's usually fun to go full screen. If not then the vertical height can be a little too much sometimes at my viewing angle.

Based on some comments Ive seen from James Gunn...the reason for the short turnaround has to do with release date of Peacemaker Season 2.

Anyone have comments on audio/video? Is the Atmos amazing or just good? Love to hear your thoughts :)
