I'd love to get the E in hand. For comparison to the V. Because I value build quality. My first Panasonic 4k player was an affordable budget model. I later "upgraded" to its flagship model, but it has identical performance. So why would I pay nearly 3x more for this model? Build quality. There are many enthusiasts that value that.Just wanted to chime in on this.....I bought the V just about a year ago as it was the first time I could get into the K world at a price I could....err my wife would accept. If the The E had been available I would have gone with the E. For my use case there is literally no advantage to the V over the E. I predict the V to be discontinued soon.
I replaced my Strato C with V recently . My wife and I & friend Paul thought the V sounded better . Lower Jitter maybeI certainly don't want to start a flame war. but if you believe the mantra that "bits are bits", then there can be no difference. I used to believe that, but years with various audio gear and cabling has convinced me that it's just not that simple. But I don't want to start an argument here. Even if someone did a side by side test, the results would rely on the rest of the audio and video chain.
But I would certainly like to see them tested on a high end system. Maybe someone will do youtube video one day.
Don‘t think so. Different use cases. The E is more for hidden installations behin a tv or something, the V is more for rack installation, especislly when paired to a compact Terra.I predict the V to be discontinued soon.
The V has a fan in it the E does not . Which is another difference .Don‘t think so. Different use cases. The E is more for hidden installations behin a tv or something, the V is more for rack installation, especislly when kater paired to a compact Terra.
If that doesn‘t apply to your use-case and the proce difference matters, you‘re good to go with the E. But I wouldn‘t expect the V to disappear.
Seems to me there are two use cases for the V -vs- E. One would be for additional rooms which most likely means a system that already has servers...at which point the size of HD makes no difference. With the exception of "aesthetics" in that use case there is no difference between the E and V except price. The other would be as standalone at which point the size of HD might matter but to be honest anyone going all standalone already has accepted that they will be constantly deleting stuff to make room for new...an extra 4 or so movies worth of storage really does not change or lesson that. I really find the V to be a tough sell now that the E is out. I am not complaining in the sense I feel ripped off or anything...I am glad i got the V...at the time it let me get into K....just saying that if I were buying today...there would be no reason to go with the V over the E.Don‘t think so. Other than the power supply. The Strato C and Strato V use different power supplies.Another use-case:
Existing owners of a (couple of) Strato C. With the V, it´s a 1:1 switch - you don´t have to physically change anything on the existing installation.
Hmm, not sure I understand. Swapping from a C to either the V or E is the same: plug in ethernet, plug in HDMI, plug in power supply. Unless I am missing something.Another use-case:

A large amount of K installations are larger, rack-mounted installations done by professional installers.Hmm, not sure I understand. Swapping from a C to either the V or E is the same: plug in ethernet, plug in HDMI, plug in power supply. Unless I am missing something.
Ah, I had not considered that. My V is sitting on a shelf in my rack in the back of room. Never really thought about getting the rack mount for it.A large amount of K installations are larger, rack-mounted installations done by professional installers.
Changing a rackmounted C to a E-style device that is supposed to be wall-mounted and keep the installation tidy would be a real pain.
There is a rack mount kit for the Strato E/M but it's not the same as the kit used for the V/C so not as simple a substitution.A large amount of K installations are larger, rack-mounted installations done by professional installers.

Yes. Strato E and Strato V use the same power supply.Regarding power supplies, it looks like Strato E and Strato V have identical power supplies. Am I correct?
