NEWS: Strato K Movie Player with 8K capability and new "4K Cinematic" full-chroma & higher bitrate support

The cinematic version of Blade Runner 2049 is being reported as being messed up with elevated blacks, a fix is incoming. So they either fixed it… you downloaded the incorrect version or the shiny new toy got you biased lol
Anyone that is following the thread knows that. It has been repeated dozens of times. I downloaded both cinematic HDR10 and DV versions and watched HDR10 version as DV has slightly elevated blacks. Unless you have used Strato K, I would say you are being biased lol.

I watched the 4k cinematic HDR10 version of Blade Running 2049 and thought it looked 'really' good. No issues.

I think I've seen enough feedback that I will eventually want to upgrade my V to a K for the best source possible. Not in the cards this year to due other expenses. Maybe sometime mid 2027 we'll see some used units and will sell my V.

Yes the Dolby Vision Cinematic has eleveted blacks. However the HDR10 Cinematic is fine. Kaleidescape is aware waiting on the Dobly Fix.

Considering how few Vs came up (before the K announcement) I wouldn't go pinning much hope on that scenario playing out so quickly.

I actually bought a used V 3/2025 on AVS for a good price but I do agree that it may not be likely that people let go of their K.

It occurs to me that the K isn't all it could be. It supports a 4K poster wall but not an 8K poster wall? If so, chip limitations again?

IDK that an 8K poster wall would be worth much. Just a nit. At least, not until we can set the size of the posters....

Would be nice if you could set the scale/size on the poster wall, more so with bigger screens and 4K, Perhaps something for later

So, I decided to watch Spider-Man: No Way Home to prepare for the upcoming movie, but unfortunately, there was an audio dropout in the movie on my new Strato K. I’ve already informed Kaleidescape about this issue.

I found a Movie where I prefer the UHD Blu Ray - Spectre James Bond MUCH better than the K Cinematic K DV...
If someone has both and can watch and comment I will appreciate it.

If you could let us know the time-stamp, we could check it as well.

I would say the biggest visible(if not the only) improvement on Strato K is the poster

About 20 years ago I went to a theater to watch a movie, and at that point I had not been in a theater in 5 years.

It wasn't a big theater, but it had a large screen so I sat closer to the rear seating. About 10 minutes into the movie I went to tell management that the movie was not properly focused, and suggested they let the projectionist know. Several people came to check, and they all said it looked fine to them. I insisted they were wrong, but I stayed until the end. When I got home I told a friend what happened and mentioned that was the reason I preferred my own theater. He laughed, and then suggested perhaps my eyesight was changing. I laughed that off, but his comment stayed with me, so I did get my eyes checked a week later and learned that my distance vision had slipped to 20/25 left and 20/30 right.

Just saying.....

I am down to only one good eye so I think any improvements in video tech is probably gone for me :(

Wow, I was upset that my recent test last year had gone from 20/10 to 20/15 in both eyes, guess I shouldn’t complain!
