Store "Hole" Feedback

When I bought Strato E almost two months ago, I immediately liked the combination of convenience and quality. I very quickly did disc to digital registrations. Then I removed from my shelves and put away all discs of movies and TV series that are available on Kaleidescape. I still have close to half the collection left on my shelves. This will of course depend on your taste in movies. I like mainstream blockbusters, but also independent films, classics and international films.

I am not quitting Kaleidescape, but I don't see myself buying another player or server, until there is a major expansion in Kaleidescape library.

I whole-heartedly second this one. Baffling.
It is a bit baffling. For some reason, the rights to season 2 (and only season 2) expired and have not been renewed. We're working on getting it back but this is something that has to get resolved on the licensor side.

If you can say, do you have separate teams for "licensing management" and "content management"?

If so, is there any way to influence the "licensing management" team?

Thanks for checking, Mike. Maybe you can find out about the following "holes" in TV series:

12 Monkeys - you have seasons 1 and 2, but not seasons 3 and 4 (last two seasons)
Last Kingdom - Seasons 1 to 4, but not the final season 5.
Last Ship - Seasons 1 to 4, but the final season 5

Thanks again,
Stan

I may have been unclear. This is a case where the licensor (studio) withdrew rights for that season, and has not offered them again. We're following up with them to see whether it can be made available.

I'm guessing, but like other titles, its license likely changed hands.

Mentioned in another thread, Shout! took over and is digitally distributing Halloween 1, 4, and 5 in 4K Dolby Vision. If you want them on K, get requests in to: movies@kaleidescape.com

Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever have not been given the HDR upgrade on the store. So these 2 are missing from the recent 6 film Connery UHD box set.
Since the other 4 have been upgraded, I assume the remaining 2 will as well. It's my understanding the first 4 did not upgrade at the same time. I don't know how they decide which movies get upgraded, when. I am waiting as well....hopefully it will happen soon.

So, Music & Lyrics. They added the music video (which, as a child of the '80s, is great!). Fantastic.
On disc, there are two versions of that video. The regular one and one with pop-up bubbles with funny (fake) tidbits about the band.

I don't see the latter one. Does K get those? How would such a thing render on a Strato S?

There has been an internet rumor going around, that Shout Factory is going out of business and that does appear to be false. There has been a merger which may be why Halloween is no longer on the store, but maybe a possibility to getting some of the titles we want in the future?

Shout! was purchased months ago and their new owners are prepping them for the digital future. They'll very likely announce the closure of their online (physical) store soon, with physical exclusives and whatnot shifting to other online stores (GRUV). They're also significantly ramping up their digital rights acquisition, and this is where K can see some serious benefits.* (Halloween is one of the titles recently taken over in 4K and the only reason it's not on the K Store would be because K doesn't want it.)

Between an increased focus on digital and the (likely) closure of their online store, people are freaking out and thinking this boutique is getting out of physical media. That's clearly not the case (yet), but I understand the insecurity associated with physical media at this point.

From a K perspective, things should be looking up, assuming K chooses to get these titles.

*Hopefully the continued efforts have no impact on the contract with K, K doesn't have to renegotiate with new owners, etc. Given that we're still seeing new Shout! titles, including newly acquired 4K digital licenses, I *think* we're safe.

Anyone know who has the digital rights to Master Z and Ip Man 4 and/or the 4K versions. It seems to be Well Go USA for the discs the same as the others but then odd that they are missing to complete the collection. It would also be good the get the 4K’s since the UHD collection is impossible to get!

Master Z is available digitally in 4K Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos from Well Go USA. Available to K.
Ip Man 4: The Finale is a little murkier. Apple has it digitally in 4K Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos from "Bullet Films" (Donnie Yen's company). But Fandango at Home (Vudu) only has it in HD from Well Go USA.

Are the first 3 available in 4K as well?
