Anyone else notice issues with the DV version of Smile 2? Several times throughout the movie, I noticed the brightness getting brighter or dimmer. It's a similar issue to the one for the DV version of The Equalizer 2, except not as often. Should I contact Kaleidescape support about this issue?

Make sure your display supports DV. If you turn it off and use HDR10, does the issue go away?
DV does more harm than good and really is not required.
If you have a true HDR display it’s obviously not required as you don’t need tone-mapping/“Fake HDR”. If you need tone-mapping other solutions work better than DV, notably in-monitor TM or Lumagen.

Any specific scenes so I can replicate?
I have a 2024 LG G4 and almost universally DV looks better than HDR10. I am not sure why DV would be considered fake HDR.
Are you using a picture mode such as a DV bright mode? If so, the EOTF tracking curve will be incorrect and will over brighten the image and could be the cause. If you have a DV dark mode which should track the EOTF curve correctly, check and see if it still occurs. If not, then its likely the picture mode you are using.
I've watched numerous other DV titles, and this is the only one (besides Equalizer 2) that has done this. My display supports DV.
I wish I could give you specific scenes, but it happens sporadically throughout the movie (Smile 2). I haven't downloaded the HDR version yet to test. It's a Hisense TV and I'm using Dolby Vision Custom picture mode, but the issue doesn't occur on other DV content, so I'm thinking it may be something with the video sent by the studio.
I agree, it has to be the movie, if other DV titles are not causing issues.
I am using DV filmmaker mode, and it looks better than HDR10 as I'd expect given the technical improvements DV offers over HDR10.
