Signal loss between end of playback and OSD

Hi all,

I have my Strato connected to a HDMI matrix. All works fine except that at the end of movie playback there is a loss of signal which causes my TV to temporarily show a screensaver with a “no signal” message, before eventually returning to the K OSD. This is likely matrix related as this doesn’t happen with my other Strato C which is connected directly to the display via Co-Star.

This isn’t the end of the world, but can be a bit jarring and takes you out of the experience somewhat, especially when browsing scenes. I was wondering if anyone was aware of a setting on the Strato which could prevent this?

Thanks,

Michael

You might try setting the Strato to "Minimize display mode changes". However, it may also be a delay in your HDMI matrix switching from HDR to SDR for OSD.

I also noticed that a few times and started stopping the movie before the credits end. Doesn’t seem to happen all the time. SJ

I hope the suggestion improves the delay, but I suspect the delay is more likely the HDR back to SDR, as mentioned above. There is usually a delay coming out of 4k back to the OSG, longer when it's coming from HDR content. That was my experience when switching.

Thanks Jim. Wonder also for anyone using a matrix or similar, is having to limit to 13.5Gbps common? Could understand this with the long cable runs and HdbaseT connectivity common with matrices.

But having said that I’m also having the same issue with my direct to display Strato C/Co-Star, using what I thought were pretty good HDMI cables. I get the tell-tale flickering and sparkling, so have had to limit it to 13.5Gbps. Pretty sure I had no such issues with my 6TB Strato at the same zone before switching to a Strato C, but anyway...

About to try the recommended RuiPro cables to see if that will fix it (I’m now someone who pays over £130 for a HDMI cable apparently!). But even then not sure my aging eyes will be able to tell the difference between 13.5 and 18 Gbps..:

Sometimes really short cables between devices can cause problems as well. I had a couple of 1 meter cables going from two components that had occasional drop outs, and those disappeared when I changed them to 2 meter cables. Doesn't always work, but I like working through the possibilities from cheapest to most expensive. What we all put up with is crazy, you really do have to be a dedicated enthusiast to go through these constant challenges in our systems! (But it is fun when it all works!)

Try playing the content without the Co-Star if you can (Strato > Display) and see if the problem persists.

Yes, already tested by unpairing from Co-Star and playing directly. Same problem. Will report back when I’ve tried the fancy new cables!
