Awaiting inbound Strato K's... 2 for main house, 1 for a beach house elsewhere.

I'm trying to get to a homogenous environment, at least on the encore-side of my paired (encore+premier, co-star) system... so that i can minimize movie version duplication in each home.

1) My two main viewing zones in the main house will have a Strato K to a 83" Sony OLED with DV in one room, and a 65" LG OLED in the bedroom. No external processors. Presumably this case is easy: I'm going to get best results with getting the 4K-C-DV movies where available as both zones are DV-capable displays, and just get 4K-C-HDR10 for titles where there's no 4K-C-DV?

2) In the separate beach house, there's just one zone for now, Strato K to 110" Sony VPLXW6000ES 4K HDR Laser. no external processor, but eventually I'll also have a second zone here: Strato K to Sony OLED in the bedroom (DV capable of course), also no external processor. This is the more interesting case... if i just wish to store one movie and get the best picture possible on each zone (slight preference for the room with projector), I BELIEVE I still want to prioritize 4K-C-DV version, letting the K in the room with the projector convert to HDR on the fly, and of course feeding the full DV content to the room with the OLED? Or, would you choose the opposite: get/store the 4K-C-HDR10 so projector has the best picture, sacrificing any DV benefits in the bedroom on the OLED there?
I know I'll hear to just get both versions, but I want to maximize titles i store in that home so would rather not store both.

Thanks in advance for expert advice here...

For the main house: Are they both DV-capable displays? Samsung OLEDs don't support DV that I'm aware of; they've locked in on their open-but-not-widely-adopted HDR10+ in place of DV.

Correct, Samsung is anti-DV and the EDID on a Samsung display won't include DV capabilities. You can fake it with an EDID spoofer to try to get LLDV, but in general any Samsung TV is going to be the recipient of your player's DV to HDR conversion.

I think this is an open question and I'm still waiting to hear answers from the likes of @Rmarci and @KDeering when they have hardware/software that can allow proper investigation. Theoretically, if the DV to HDR conversion of the Strato K is clean then 4KC DV may be the answer, particularly if there's non-4.4.4 components in the chain. However, if there's still any issues with that conversion then you'll likely want to settle in with 4KC HDR10.

Anyway, you need both a Strato K and the latest (just started rolling out) 26.1.1 update and I don't think either have both yet.

Sorry, my mistake (corrected in my original post above), the TV in the bedroom in main home is LG OLED... older B9 TV, but does support DV).

Sounds like the only display device that isn’t DV capable is the projector. Something to consider would be adding a VP to the projector. I’d think a top VP like MadVR or Lumagen, or the inexpensive and soon to open for preorder Luma, should do a better job converting DV to HDR10 than the Strato K, and provide other benefits for the projector. Then you can just go with DV files whenever available.

So back to my original question, with a more specific scenario... for the Strato K-->Sony 4K OLED (4:4:4 capable... the K's UI is coming through as 4:4:4 according to "Video Capabilities and Status"), no video processor...

For the newly released titles in 4K-C-HDR10-4:4:4, If I have a choice to get/play 4K-C DV or 4K-C HDR0 4:4:4, which is likely the better format? Am I still likely to get the best picture from 4k-C-DV?

I've tried both on my LG G6 and I seem to prefer the 4KC DV. After a couple of tests, I just set that as the preference and never looked back. I figure when I have ChadB (my calibrator) back to retune it next year, I'll get his opinion with a test or two.

If you login to your K account (under My systems-> download preferences), you will notice that selecting the highest quality parameter results in C_DV being showcased as the designated “flagship” format, not C_HDR10 (4:4:4). That should make it easier to eliminate any confusion.

I have a related question: I just got the Strato K for the home theater and I also have a Strato V for the living room. The Strato K feeds an Epson LS12000 projector through a MadVR Envy Core. The Strato K feeds the LG OLED (77" G3) which is Dolby Vision capable.

For 4k HDR releases, I had been just downloading the HDR10 version so they would play on both players. For those that have not yet received a 4KC upgrade, and since it is my understanding that the Strato K can convert DV to HDR10, is it safe to assume that I should replace all of my 4k HDR10 downloads with the Dolby Vision version for those that are available in DV? Or, will the HDR10 play nicer with my theater setup?

is there a typo in here? you described both signal paths as being a Strato K... no Strato V.

Indeed there was. It should read:
