New Premire server announced!!

Prices for drives have dropped significantly over the years but when ever they come out with a larger drive it's always way over priced.
The only thing that has changed is that rather then the prices staying high they tend to come down a lot faster then they did in the past.

I agree.

Does acquiring a 1U+ to replace legacy equipment require the buyer to agree to the newer "Disney Content Amendment" or can owner's be as they were if they had not yet agreed to that amendment?

Thanks

Yes, it functions just like any other Premiere server being added to an existing system. If the system is grandfathered, the new server has the same capability while a part of that system. If it should ever be separated from that system, it would revert back to a non-Grandfathered status, and any protected DVD content on that Server would not be playable.

Jim

No premiere components require you to "opt-in" to Disney, including the 1U+. However, keep in mind that if the 1U+ will be your only Premiere server, it will obviously not be grandfathered, and cannot therefore import protected DVD content. It will only be able to store DVD content downloaded from the K Store (and of course BR content). If you also want Disney content to be downloadable, you would need to opt-in, otherwise you would be limited to importing Disney content from BR discs and storing them in a Vault.

Jim

But if I want to replace my current grandfathered 1U with this new 1U+ I can do that right?- And the new 1U+ becomes grandfathered even if the old server is no longer part of the system and the old 1U loses its grandfathered status, correct?

Correct.
