Movies on Sale...

I'm sure this has been asked a bunch of times before, but is $84.99 a good price for the 9 Star Wars movies? I'm also looking at Solo and Rogue One which are $14.99. I own them but even with the D2D discount, they usually end up higher than that, right?

It looks like the Star Wars bundle was $79.99 earlier this year in April/May. I think $84.99 is a great price, considering I was a dummy and spent $114.99 a month ago. I was new and just building my collection and didn't realize sales were such a big thing yet.

You're good, life's short. Go for it!

(Says the guy who asked the exact same question 6 months ago).

(And also bought the regular bundle at $84.99).

Well, you could have bought only the original trilogy, because "Who wants those prequels/sequels?!?!" Then remember that there is some good demo fodder in those prequels/sequels and your kids will probably like them. Then realize that even with three movies purchased the best price on the remaining six is to buy the nine movie bundle, negating your original purchases.

I mean, that could theoretically happen to someone. I guess.

Sale is good until the 18th for the Solo and Rogue One titles, so I'm waiting a bit on those. I went ahead and purchased the 9-movie Saga. Can't wait to watch them since I've only seen the 4K versions of these movies via streaming before!

The sound is the biggest standout for me, in going from streaming to full-fat 4K. The Atmos and bass are amazing. I have the opening of Star Wars with the Star Destroyer going overhead in my demo script (also posted in "Resources") and it really amazes me and anyone in the theater when it plays. You are going to be very happy with these.

Also, just go ahead and get Rogue One and Solo. They each have good scenes.

From my own experience, it's just better to flip the switch, and let yourself get what you want now, even if there may be a better price soon. In the immortal words of Dr. Henry Jones Sr., Indiana, let it go!

Paid the same, so I guess that makes us Dumb and Dummy? 🤣

But in all seriousness, I got it when I really wanted it (along with Rogue one/ Solo) so can’t complain much. I did a mini marathon and finished the entire SW universe in 5 days. The enjoyment quotient cannot be quantified. Waiting game just prolongs the agony.

Hah! Just my luck. I bought ST:SNW Seasons 1&2 yesterday :)

Logic says though that I can recoup double my losses if I buy Picard seasons 1-3 🤣

Why is Strange New Worlds only in SDR? I would never purchase this one at SDR. Also, Picard has the HDR version in HD on Paramount+.

We don't get answers to things like this, but you can assume that:
A) The studio (Paramount) chose not to make 4K HDR available to digital stores, or
B) K did a cost/benefit analysis and choose to only acquire 4K SDR.

If you can find another digital store that's selling 4K HDR, it's likely B. If you can't, it's likely A.

Another title I was disappointed to find out the Kscape version is inferior to the 4k disc. :(
Yeah, I get it. The worlds of "Better on K" and "Better on Disc" continue to grow and co-exist. When it's outside of K's control, they obviously get a pass. When it's cost/benefit decisions, I do have a habit of strapping on my cranky pants. But, they're trying their best.

Last year saw dozens of titles arriving in lesser quality than other digital stores and disc. However, K was releasing the Terra Primes, developing the Strato V, prepping workflows for Dolby Vision, building tools for HD conversions, etc. Maybe dropping Ferris Bueller and The Exorcist without HDR was a couple of months of payroll. We don't know.

What we know is Kaleidescape is a small company that's producing a tremendous product that we all love, and competing with digital stores run by the largest tech companies on the planet. We want more studios and more titles. We want the highest quality releases. The best thing we can do is support (buy) titles we want to see more of, and get feedback on the others to: movies@kaleidescape.com

I knew all that before deciding to join Kscape but to be honest have been a little surprised just how prevalent the case has been that for one reason or another several of my favorite titles...so one's I was ready to buy asap are either not even avail or only as inferior version.

I realize most of this is out of their hands but still disappointing considering the cost.

Still no regrets thou.

Anyone know what the lowest price has been for the "Star Trek 10-Film Set"? I did a quick search, and it seems the set has only been available since 2023 so not sure it goes down much? It's currently on sale for $44.99.

The best prices are around First Contact Day and Star Trek Day (going on now). Everything you see on Star Trek right now is likely the lowest you’ll find for the foreseeable future. Grab ‘em while you can.
