Movies on Sale...

Really not a fan of how the set pricing doesn't pro-rate for movies I already have. I have the Mission: Impossible collection on 4K disc and purchased MI:6 on Kscape already. The D2D pricing for the other 5 movies is $8.59 each so it would normally cost me $42.95 to complete the set if I just bought them all individually. The $ is not that significant, but it's just the principle that I'd pay the same amount for 5 movies as people will pay for 6 movies seems wrong to me, especially since I have access to the D2D pricing. If I only had to pay 5/6 of the price for the set ($33.33) I'd feel better about it. It seems stupid to quibble over $6 on a system that costs tens of thousands of dollars, but the principle of the whole thing is making me balk.

I don't like when I buy a movie and then a couple months later it goes on sale, but that's the reality of things being sold. The only alternative is to not offer sales or discounts, the price is the price and it never goes down, that way nobody can ever feel like they were screwed over and paid more for a movie than someone else.

It's a fair point, but it just seems different from regretting not holding out for a sale in that it's a bundle of movies, some of which I may already own. I suppose it's analogous to a bundle set of the disc version going on sale when I already own one of the movies. In that case, I'd technically be able to sell or give away the movie I already own. Seems that since Kscape knows which movies I own/don't own that it wouldn't be hard to prorate the price. I acknowledge it's not a high priority, but something I hope they add down the line. Otherwise, whenever I think of buying one movie in a larger franchise, I may pause to consider when the whole set will go on sale. (And to your point, the same could be said of any individual movie eventually going on sale.)

I try to hold off buying anything from a franchise, until they go on sale, or I have a D2D discount for the lot.
But let’s take Mission Impossible as an example. I bought the whole set today, even though I had a few D2D waiting to be redeemed. So I bought all 6 movies for $40.
But what when M:I7 comes out in the future? They’ll likely do another sale then, and I’ll be left out, but new owners will be able to jump on the deal then with all 7 movies…
One has to be a bit strategic and have patience to build your collection in a cost-effective way.

These movie sets are obviously designed for new customers to build their collections from the ground up. Does that feel like long-time users are being "punished"? Maybe a little? But that's everything from cel phone upgrades to internet specials to cable packages to meal prep services. It's how businesses grow their user bases, which helps long-term customers by making the longevity of the company more viable, thus giving our investments more value over time.

We've been conditioned as a human race to always feel like we're being discriminated against, everyone is out to get us, why can't I have what he's getting. WHERE'S MINE?

The more customers Kaleidescape has, the more attractive it is to studios and distributors as a content delivery platform, meaning we get more titles, more options, and maybe even lower prices going forward. Except for you. You don't get anything. You're being singled out.

I think offering the sets at a discount is great marketing, like others I have quite a few from the sets but I still appreciate the offer.
I’m hoping some day they will offer a concert bundle as I really enjoy those more than anything.

Coachella bundle, Lollapalooza bundle, Jazzfest bundle, Bonaroo bundle...lots of natural groupings.

I'm wondering why the price drops on K seems to be different than the ones at, say, Apple. Right now I'd expect Evil Dead Rise to be $29.99 (since Apple dropped to $24.99 this week), but it's at $39.99, which is quite the premium.

Simple answer… Warner! Their prices are so out of alignment with most others.

I know why their prices aren't "low", but typically K is Apple + $5 or so, whereas here it's Apple + $15. The rental is more expensive than a purchase at Apple.

Studios set the prices, so obviously Warner thinks Kaleidescape owners are willing to pay more.

That's nothing compared to the gamesmanship required for Super Bundles. I used to always grab the 4k upgrades at $5, but now I contemplate how likely I am to want to watch the movie in the near future, and generally hold-off so that it can potentially be used for bundle eligibility. Better to pay $2 more on a D2D/upgrade that saves me $15-20 on a different title.
