Not really going to be an accurate way to compare though, by looking at YouTube videos that is. I’m surprised you think it’s bad as everything I’ve read online says they are a big improvement over the Blu-rays specifically citing that DV/HDR is the main improvement. I’ve not watched my UHD copy yet to specifically comment on the films though.Anyone already have these titles on K? If so, would you please test the 4K SDR versions and report back? It would be interesting to see what others think about the 4K HDR vs. SDR comparison. There's a comparison between Blu-ray and 4K on YouTube and I actually thought the 4K HDR versions on that video look pretty bad as well.
I think the big issue with HDR is that it’s very dependant on the capabilities of your display and/or DTM solution as to how good the end result is. Literally the main reason I got a Lumagen so I don’t have to think about it and I definitely notice the increased dynamic range of HDR content, despite the fact I think the contrast might actually be worse or at least the blacks aren’t quite as good, as it’s running in a brighter laser mode, so maybe it’s the same contrast but shifted up to allow for brighter highlights.
