One of my favorite sci-fi, hi octane action flicks. Love the audio mix, the atmos is very energetic (and dynamic) throughout the course of the film. This is one of my first few purchases on K. Now available in cinematic. Can’t wait to revisit.

Thought it wasn’t a big upgrade. As much as others I suppose. Don’t get me wrong it looks good but didn’t jump out at me like some.

Unfortunately the Atmos track has neutered low LFE… DTS hd track is a better track. The opening 15 seconds is house foundation shaking on the DTS HD mix… atmos it’s just shaking. I hate when they do this, master and commander was neutered, war of the worlds etc.
The blu rays DTS HD tracks have much better LFE

I agree. I downloaded both versions and the Atmos version sounds awesome! But the LFE is neutered. Plus the HD version allowed me to actually feel the opening scene LFE at levels I’ve never heard before!

But question for ya, you mentioned the same thing for War of the worlds, and according to the Atmos viewer website, the atmos track only really plays on the Top middle speakers, so my question is, for mainly demo purposes, would you suggest the buying and downloading war of the worlds in 4K atmos or stick with the HD 5.1 dts version?

You should try Hans Zimmer: Live in Prague especially the beginning of Aurora. I have it measured at 7hz. And the new cinematic version left the infrasonics alone.

Hmm, I guess I am the only one that did not actually like the original first 15 seconds...I know its system dependent and all...but always sounded like it was actually a mistake in the mastering of the disc release. Could just because my setup is not infrasonic capable...so just sounds out of place.

Love the movie - just wish Kaleidescape would be more consistent with their offerings. Bought it tonight expecting Dolby Vision on my V (don’t have a K yet). It’s DV on iTunes & Fandango. It’s available on K in Cinematic DV, but no DV for V / E owners. I make most of my purchases from the iOS app - and at first glance it appeared to be available in C_DV and DV.

That's a good catch. Add this one to the "Gaps" thread so we can keep track of it. Anyone seen any other titles like this? (I'm assuming it was in the pipeline for a DV upgrade and somehow the 4KC DV version hit first. Let's hope 4K DV is on the way.)

All of the Indiana Jones films have Cinematic 4K DV, but no DV on 4K. I hope this isn't a trend that DV gets locked behind Cinematic 4K as I bought my Strato E a few months ago before the K dropped, otherwise, I'd have bought the K!

I hope Kaleidescape, at some point, is able to address this issue by including the choice of theatrical audio mixes for movies. The majority of Kaleidescape owners have six-figure theaters, which are capable of handling this type of audio signal.
