Last movie watched

Really enjoyed Predator: Badlands but it won’t be for everyone as it’s a departure from the typical style being PG-13 and made for a broader audience.

For me, it worked. Loved the lore and the characters and it was fun start to finish.

Catching up on a few 90's movies:
Watched in DV on a Strato V/Sony Z9K TV. Detail was great and colors were outstanding. HDR highlights were also notably bright (all the glints from the jewelry!). Atmos was as good as it could be too (as much as period drama could make use of it). Movie wise, not my cup of tea but I also didn't mind it. My wife was totally enthralled. I did experience two short audio dropouts though (V goes direct to the TV and audio is then eARC'd to my processor).

4K SDR on a Strato C this time. It looked and sounded great. Colors were surprisingly rich (goes to show what Rec 709 can do). Nice video upgrade over HD. Classic (understated) 5.1 track but it had a decent soundstage in many scenes.

Also 4K SDR on a Strato C. Image quality was quite good (even by 4K standards) but overall detail and color (moreso) was a bit less impressive than the exceptional Doubtfire video. The 5.1 track was serviceable and mostly front focused with very little surround compared to modern mixes. No actual audio issues other than being less than enveloping. I don't mean to be Debbie Downer...if you like this movie get it...K is still the best way to see it! ;)

This one is on the schedule for tomorrow:

I watched Dust Bunny with my wife over two nights and we both loved it. Five minutes in, I turned to my wife and said "I'm catching 'The Professional' by way of 'Amelie' vibes." And, having finished it, that sticks with me. If I'm barely into your directorial debut and you've invoked peak Luc Besson and peak Jean-Pierre Jeunet in my mind then you're doing something exceptionally well.

Visually this film is a stunner with dream-like imagery in every scene. The cast is incredible. The acting is superb. The script is fantastic in both senses of the word. This is a film I will revisit, and I can't wait to see what Bryan Fuller comes up with next.

P.S. The only real surprise for me is the rating. R??? I must have skipped over a LOT of profanity or not registered how bloody some scenes were. In fact, even trying to remember now I can't picture anything to warrant that rating. I hate to think that would limit the audience, as this film certainly would be popular with a younger crowd that enjoys a dark fantasy story.

Are there jump scares? Trying to convince R to watch this with me but she hates jump scares.

Not in the classic horror movie sense, no. There may be a scene or two that would technically qualify, but that's certainly not a thought I had while watching it. :)

Coming off of Dust Bunny, I attempted to present Song Sung Blue tonight. My wife tried to gong it two lines in and my pleading face almost got us through the introductory monologue. Oh well, I guess this one shifts over to my personal watch list. I'll have to report back. :)

It is an amazing movie. Tell her I said give it a watch. We all loved it.

Song Sung Blue is great and we are watching the Harry Potter series again. Last time was when the movies first came when we took the kids to the theater. DTX is amazing on those movies.

Video quality isn't good but great musical score and an interesting movie.

We liked it . We thought the two leads were very good in it . Kate Hudson was nominated for best supporting actress .

Morbius: it was an enjoyable movie, with energetic use of Atmos done quite fittingly and superb graphics. It certainly demonstrates what one has invested in their theater. It reminded me why I like K so much and why I built my theater the way I did. If you like this genre, it is worth your time.

Old transfer and it shows. Audio was decent. Meh... :cautious:

Watched in DV on a Strato V. Holy smokes! Easily one of the best-looking animated movies I have ever seen. The colors were outstanding and they really did an amazing job incorporating what looked to be some HDR elements (which has got to be a challenge with animation). Some real care went into this one. Sound was no slouch either.

Judging by the large file size vs run time and DTS-HD track (vs Dolby True HD) this is likely not just a facsimile of the readily available Blu-Ray. It looked and sounded quite good. Of course, the movie is excellent so that helps things along. :p Audio in the final shootout was a bit harsh and mixed much hotter than any previous gunshots but that's really my only complaint.

Has anybody watched Greenland 2 on KScape yet ? How does it sound ? Picture Quality?

We watched Greenland 2 last night . It was entertaining enough on a snowy Saturday night . Good sound . Had
Some rumble to it . Good kick in the bass .
Video was good too .

Just wish these types of movies had more extension down into the brown notes..
