Last movie watched

My wife and I saw Sentimental Value at the Virginia Film Festival and loved it. It’s NEON so doubtful it will come to K, at-least not right away. Highly recommend!

Great film! K has been getting NEON titles as they become available on streaming, so hopeful we will get this once it's available. Still waiting on the older NEON titles that we haven't gotten yet.

Merry Christmas everybody! These are our family favorite Christmas movies we're watching together over the holidays:

Enjoy!

Watched this a few days ago. Great movie with solid acting.

avoid watching the trailer, it really spoils many of the funniest moments of the film.

Fantastic movie... I discussed it more here (without spoilers)

Loved this one too.

We saw Song Sung Blue at the cinema yesterday - that is a movie which is criminally under-marketed AND mis-marketed. Fantastic film that has so much more to offer than the trailers would suggest.

A solidly entertaining movie.

I watched Wicked: For Good last night. Technically I watched the 3D version on Apple Vision Pro, but it's on my K as well and I've been spot-checking it for confirmation of my impressions. As a movie? It's fine/good. If you're a fan of the musical and can get over the fact this story only needs one movie, you'll have a good time.

I'm still bothered by the restrained HDR. Watching The Wizard of Oz is a technicolor explosion on the screen, and the costumes and sets for the Wicked movies would lend themselves well to this kind of over saturation of color. But, alas, the Director has stated he wanted to keep things toned down to reflect the darker storyline. Ok, boss.* (For those interested, I can confirm that the 3D in this title is far better than the original.)

Now, the really good news...

Wicked (For Good) finally has its demo material! The original had "demo potential" written all over it, but between restrained visuals and audio, alongside the need to drag every 4 minute song into 15 minutes of film with numerous interruptions, it just never came together. However, Wicked: For Good finally delivers: "No Good Deed" is ready for its closeup. Not only does the director let this song live on its own, it's accompanied by great visuals and the song is backed by a windstorm that livens up the LFE. Crank up the audio and let this one breathe.

Wicked's promise of "Defying Gravity" is delivered in "No Good Deed." I wouldn't be surprised if this makes its way onto many demo scripts in the coming year. Can it displace The Greatest Showman's intro number? I doubt it, but its new and fresh and (I think) worthy of some attention.*

*If you've got a Vivid mode on your TV/Projector, now is the time to use it.

Ballerina from the John Wick series. Not very artistic, but I like the series when I am in the mood for something that looks and sounds good but doesn’t require much thinking. I find the pace to be engaging and otherwise mildly enjoyable.

I’ve downloaded The running man and Predator Badlands. Looking forward as I missed them in theaters :) More to come!

The stuff they did with real flamethrowers was incredible!

I have to think the flamethrower fight is in all the new demo scripts for Lumagen/MadVR.

See our flames?!?!?! So much better than your flames! $10,000 please.
