Last movie watched

We watched One Battle After another last night... it was pretty good and the sound/Atmos/bass was excellent 👌

I just watched "The Aeronauts" on F@H and really enjoyed the video because of the switching aspect ratios (2.4 and 1.85). I know that K will always display the larger of the two aspect ratios when they have it. Has anyone purchased this title on K? I'm asking because the K store indicates that it is 2.4 meaning it is either indicated wrong or that the K version does not have the aspect ratio changes.

Very good movie that had me "weak-in-the-knees" a few times.

"Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner." - Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro)

This is one of the best crime thrillers of all time. The Robert De Niro and Al Pacino interplay is epic. The character development and motivational behavior are next-level. Casting is really strong - including Natalie Portman, Diane Venora, Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore, Jon Voight, Amy Brenneman, Ashley Judd, and more. Michael Mann reportedly spent 10 years writing and editing the script. My son had never seen and we watched it last night.

Could not agree more. Heat is fabulous. I also enjoyed Miami Vice (also by Michael Mann), which is available in Director's Version and Standard Version.

Thanks for the recommendation! I'll definitely check that out. I loved the series when it was on TV.

Watched again last night. Ballerina is non-stop action from beginning to end and the special effects and dramatic sound effects of explosions shake the house. The grenades!!! And, spoiler-alert, John Wick does make an important, although limited appearance in this film. Grab some popcorn, wake up the neighbors, well - they'll be awake soon enough after the grenades. Great fun!

If you liked Ballerina, you may also like The Killer (2024), directed by John Woo and starring the charismatic Omar Sy.

Ok - I'm in for John Woo! Thanks for the recommendation - haven't seen that one before!

In preparation for F1, I watched the racing movie Rush. Upmixed to DTS Neural:X by Trinnov it sounded great and the story was very interesting.

I also watched both movies and actually liked "Rush" better than "F1".

Yet another title that is available on 4K blu ray on a 100GB disc and with Atmos.

Just curious if anyone knows official reason - why isn't Rush available in 4K on Kaleidescape?

The digital rights remain with the original distributor (Universal) in HD while Shout! licensed the title for physical release in 4K HDR/DV. Shout! has been stepping things up on the digital side, so it'll be interesting to see if they decide to go after this title.

Thanks, Jim! That makes sense. Hopefully Shout! will continue to expand digital.

Rush is great; I hope they do.

I also hope this can eventually apply to some of the 4k anime titles like Weathering with You and Princess Mononoke (hopefully coming soon following the recent 4K theater run).

Weathering with You is already available in 4K DV digitally, K simply hasn't opted to get it (yet?).

Yes, I expect Princess Mononoke to get a 4K physical and digital release from Shout! (GKids) and hopefully K will get it. K took FOREVER to get the Ghibli titles, and they still haven't fixed the missing Japanese track from the latest title The Boy and the Heron. :(

Rewatched tonight. A great Spike Lee post 911 film.

My wife and daughter are away for the weekend, so my son and I are marathoning original Star Wars. He's only ever seen the first movie a while back, so we re-watched it tonight and are planning for ESB and ROTJ this weekend. At the same time, we are working together on a big toy/comic collection overhaul plan to go after some movie collectibles from SW and the MCU plus some other things. I'm absolutely loving engaging all of this with my son now reading classic comics, watching my favorite movies, and collecting together. 😀
