With Halloween behind us, it’s time to tally the score for K Store releases. (All of the numbers in this post are limited to 4K Catalog Upgrades only.)

As a brief recap of the last three years…
Halloween 2023
Studio Releases: 7, K Store Releases: 0.5 (1 Title Missing HDR)
Halloween 2024
Studio Releases: 8, K Store Releases: 0
Halloween 2025
Studio Releases: 34, K Store Releases: 8 (5 Universal Sequels)

So, how'd K do during Halloween this year? Statistically, the best year ever! While there were some very disappointing high-profile misses (Little Shop of Horrors - Director's Cut, The Blair Witch Project: Restored, etc.), K did get some key surprise digital releases like The Frighteners and Army of Darkness. Unfortunately, much like last year a substantial amount of this year's 4K Horror Catalog Upgrades came in the form of Universal Monsters Sequels/Spinoffs which we know sell worse than, well, every other horror title K could have added.

Outside of the K Store, catalog horror movies continue to place in the Top 20 Physical Sales lists for the period. This continues to be a bright shining light that registers well for the entire year of physical media, and K continues to insist on sitting out of this revenue party because K owners won't buy decades-old SD titles or more modern direct-to-video dreck. I once again call on any fans of horror to look at the titles that were released below and consider adding them to their libraries. 28 Days Later 4K, Army of Darkness 4K, and The Frighteners 4K are all well worth your attention and hopefully will show K there is an audience for these products. And, as always, get those requests in to: movies@kaleidescape.com
