Interview with Kaleidescape's Mike Kobb

Chances are you've interacted with Mike Kobb here at the forum as he's the Principal Engineer of User Experience at Kaleidescape. You might not know that he's an avid movie buff with an incredibly custom built home theater that he was heavily involved in designing. Here's an interview I did with Mike and some discussions on his home theater along with some great pics! https://www.cineluxe.com/inside-a-film-connoisseurs-no-compromise-home-theater/

Thanks, Josh, and thanks John for a really fun conversation. :)

Don't miss the 3D walkaround tour embedded towards the end of the article. The scan was done a few years ago, so it still shows my 1100ES projector instead of the 995 and the older Matterport cameras didn't capture color as well as the new ones, but it's still cool.

What a beautiful, classy theatre Mike. I can only dream of a similar set up - maybe one day!

And what a great example of "dogfooding" (this is a good thing!) No wonder you're the go to guy for technical issues on this forum :)

Quality. Always good to see people’s implementations and all the care, effort and time put in 👍🏼

“create two separate calibrations for the theater—one for group viewing and one
optimized for solo listening from the center seat” - simple yet so brilliant. I would never have thought to do that.

Snap on the Ekornes / Stressless seating too 😎 Funnily enough it was my Mum that first introduced me to them and I was like nooooo and then actually for Cinema seating they are perfect 👌🏻
