HDR 4K movies with 5.1 sound

I have nearly the full collection of 4k/UHD/HDR moves and learned something interesting this AM. For a huge number of titles, the HDR or UHD have 5.1 while the 1080p HD have 7.1 audio. Even more strickenly, I have the actually 4K blu ray for the majority of these movies and that has a 7.1 channel for the UHD/HDR disc as well. Is this a file size issue?? One of the biggest selling points of kscape is uncompressed audio (and video), but most have excellent theaters able to take advantage of 7.1 (if not Atmos). For the Atmos soundtracks this isn’t an issue, but there are a huge number of HDR titles with 5.1 (too many to name but just look) when the HD has 7.1.

Since we are paying top dollar for our license copy in the kscape store for these titles (in many instances more than once in 4K for those who had the discs too), can kscape see if we can get the true 7.1 audio in those instances in which Atmos is not available.

Importantly, I am not talking about things like the Nolan collection which are only 5.1 in all. But those in which the HD (and actual auHD/HDR discs have that audio).

If you need examples for just checking look at damn and rise of planet of the apes (but there is a lot of examples, a lot).

This has been covered quite a bit. K is at the mercy of what assets the studios provide. K always requests the best available quality but don't always get it.

Not entirely true. The number of movies in which the studio has release versions (ie the actually 4k blu ray) with 7.1 sound and then the HD version is available with it in store. I am not sure why they could either not ask for it or have it added at a later time.

I could go on and on. All of these have 7.1 tracks on their 4k blu ray disc which I own just not the kscape store. The question is can kaleidescape negotiate to get the best sound possible when selling high-definition content. The studios ARE selling it and do have it mixed to these 4k sources because I own all of those and more.

They obviously cannot provide what has not been mixed already, but these have been mixed and sold in their previous versions

It’s entirely true......... and they do. This has been discussed at length in other threads and on other forums. They cannot provide what they haven’t been given
