HD content conversion updates

The following are the titles that were previously converted but awaiting completion of the kOS 10.22.0/8.15.0 rollouts. Note that there are a few more titles that are part of this list that are still working their way through our quality checks and will be released once they have been validated.

With the latest release of converted titles — which was dependent on the release of kOS 10.22.0 — the conversion process has reached a level of completion where we will no longer be posting a weekly list of new title conversions. While not all titles have been converted yet, the number of titles being converted on a weekly basis will be low enough that users can monitor the "Recent HD Additions for Strato V & M" collection or their personalized "Strato HD Compatibility" page for the latest updates.

Most of the remaining titles require updates to the conversion tools to handle special cases that only affected a handful of titles each. We are working through those remaining issues now. In addition, we will be working to process the extras that were not included in the original conversions.

Layer Cake (2004) [US, CA] --

Thank you very much for the updates through this process. Happy to see Layer Cake complete and I will welcome it to my system with a proper viewing tomorrow night!

Appreciate the updates.

Any update on The Time Machine HD?
I've not received any update on this title. From what I can see, it looks like it was pulled due to quality issues (back before the conversion process) but that's informed speculation on my part.

Song of the Sea (2014) [US, CA]
FYI, Song of the Sea's update still hasn't gone live. I don't know if it's still expected or should be removed from the list.

This gets me very close. 599 of 608, with:
  • 2 are available in 4K for upgrade
  • 4 are available in SD only
  • 3 are not available at this time
I cannot imagine there would be many people with even a moderate list of unconverted movies at this point. Kudos Kaleidescape team!

As I'm down to so few, I thought I'd list what's still outstanding on my side (some decent-sized names in this lot):

Adventures of Tintin, The
Aliens*
Animatrix, The
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes
Equilibrium
Host, The
Jennifer's Body
Little Shop of Horrors
Man from U.N.C.L.E., The (2015)
Martian Extended Edition, The
Song of the Sea
Star Trek: TNG Season 6
Superman: The Movie
X-Files: Fight the Future, The
X-Files: I Want to Believe, The

*As posted previously, I'm very anxious to see what happens here. I'd LOVE to see the prior blue-tinted assets converted rather than a new HD version made from the recent 4K AI-assisted grey/steel remaster.

Any update on Tin Tin by Spielberg and The Italian Job with Michael Caine
Wow, that was fast!

Are we going to get all of our HD extras back now? Even for the titles that now only have SD extras?

The extras were one of the major selling points for me when I decided to jump into the ecosystem and I was pretty upset when they disappeared from all of my purchased movies all of a sudden.

I am down to three that have SD available:

The Animatrix

All Quiet on the Western Front (1930)

The Big Sleep

Any updates on The Island directed by Michael Bay?
Hopefully K will provided an HD update soon.

Quick note: Paramount just announced a 20th Anniversary release of the remastered soundtrack. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a 4K announcement in the not too distant future. It might be worth waiting for.

It’s gone awfully quiet in here.

Am I to take it that the Mahler box set is never going to be converted?

I think it'd be odd if they never converted a title that's actively licensed and currently sold. Theoretically K could acquire new assets from the distributor and re-encode from scratch as a last resort. FYI, there are still titles like Aliens and Star Trek: TNG Season 6 that haven't been converted, and both of those are slam dunks. So, not time to worry yet.

I'd be more concerned about titles that were delisted a decade ago and don't have a current distributor.

Let me just reiterate this point that John made in an earlier post:
With the latest release of converted titles — which was dependent on the release of kOS 10.22.0 — the conversion process has reached a level of completion where we will no longer be posting a weekly list of new title conversions.

With that having been said, I can add that remaining updates are likely to be a bit "bursty", as most of what's left are groups of content -- each a handful of titles -- that somehow trip up the conversion tools in specific ways. Each of those groups requires a fix or change to the conversion tool to handle whatever the underlying issue is. So with each tool update, there will be maybe a dozen titles, then quiet for a bit while the tools are being updated for the next batch.
