Assuming it gets rereleased on Kscape , do you guys think we’ll have to pay for the new release or it would be a free upgrade?
 
No idea what could happen here. Unlike other "Extended Editions" this one simply adds a couple of seconds to the end and then has additional scenes during the credits. Disney could release it as a new cut, add it as an Extra on the prior versions, add the new scenes as Extras, or keep the whole thing for exclusive access on Disney+. It's Disney, so if they see the opportunity to make money in digital sales they will.
 
Yeah, I don’t think I would pay for a new release. Those scenes are all over the internet now. They’ll release it on Disney + so I don’t think it’s worth whatever they’re going to charge.

The Abyss 4K looked very good. Unfortunately, Cameron plasticized the Aliens and True Lies 4K’s. I believe The Abyss was the third of these they did and it’s like they finally figured out what they were doing. I just wish they’d go back and fix Aliens, True Lies, and T2.

I will probably go for the Endgame Encore edition when it hits K-scape in 4KC. I’m a sucker for the Marvel universe. Avengers Doomsday and Dune 3 are definitely on my radar as warranting a trip to my local IMAX. I’m sure Endgame Encore would also be great in IMAX, but it’s not definite for me yet.

Doomsday and Dune 3 in 4KC were my excuse for getting the Strato K.
 
I saw the abyss in theaters, it was ok to me. Not good enough for me to buy it. But I’m finding that some older movies in 4k, a new hope for example. Just looks so fake now 😂 I’ve seen it so many times, one of my favorites. But I couldn’t help but notice the original effects looked cheesy to me. Does anyone else notice that.

I just wanted The Abyss to look like film. What we got was something... weird :oops:
 
Wasn't there like 18 minutes of new content going into Endgame? If that were the case, I would expect a new entry in the store that we'd have to buy.

EDIT: Well, a quick search says 4 new scenes and 4 new minutes. Meh, definitely not going to the commercial theater for that. I think I'll just catch the scenes online.

I think, over time, viewers have become more sophisticated and some older non-CGI/early-CGI effects can look less impressive. Star Wars A New Hope is a good example. Also, the detail of 4K cuts both ways.

4k certainly does go both ways, it wasn’t the entire movie either. Certain scenes thou you can tell. Other scenes looked really good.

Yes, There 4 end credit scenes, which obviously people have posted all over the internet. Hopefully they won’t try and charge as if it’s a new movie.
