Any reason why this is the case? Are they not able to update the audio for HDR10?

Variance between the audio paired with each video version sounds like a real pain. I really just want to download the best possible quality for both the is available. I really don’t want it to become either a lottery or a chore. Is this likely to be an issue that impacts a large number of titles do we think? I’m a simple chap. I just want to choose and watch the best movies with the best visual and sound that I can with the kit that I have. I surely can’t be alone in that.

Yes you can do that.
Is that so! I was under the impression that the DV layer used by K was not one that allows for backward compatibility with HDR10 hence the need to maintain a separate HDR10 download. Glad this isn't the case.

I am however very wary of enhanced audio suddenly creating two classes of customer and being only available to the DV crowd. I hope this never comes to pass.

@MikeKobb has said that the Strato V player is capable of doing a conversion of DV to HDR at the hardware/player level. This is why only a Strato V can do this and a Strato C cannot.

Doesn't help with the OPs question really and makes me even more concerned that there could be a C and V audio format divide. I guess all we can do is watch and wait as I doubt K will comment.

I don't see why Kaleidescape would not comment on the audio question raised regarding Dolby Atmos availability in Transformers content set in DV, but not HDR.

@MikeKobb @J.Green : Why is Dolby Atmos available on DV version (e.g Transformers) but not HDR version? And, is the beginning of a trend? I agree that this would be problematic.

Yes you can do that.
I don't think that's accurate:

1. I don't have any version of Transformers on my server.
2. i downloaded the Dolby vision version even though it gave me an incompatibility warning
3. I see it in my download history, but it is not showing up in my movie options

see Kris Deering post DV movies with better audio?

this is only possible if you have a Strato V.

This is a simple case of the Dolby Vision version (which, from store content perspective, is a new addition) had the Dolby Atmos track available immediately when the transcode was made. The Atmos track for the HDR10 requires a updated version since the HDR10 version was already on the store. That requires a retranscode for that version which then has to go through our content qualification cycle.

TL;DR: The HDR10 version with an Atmos track is still working its way through our Content Team's upgrade and quality control process. I don't have any insight as to when it will be ready.

at least we know its coming. thank you for the answer.

Are you able to download the DV version and play it as HDR 10?

Theoretically yes, however as I have found out...there is something not correct with the V and playing back a DV versions of titles on a my nonDV projector...the resulting image is noticeably dimmer than the HDR10 version. I really hope Atmos only being avail on DV versions of titles is not a trend because I do not want to deal with inferior image just to get atmos.

Whilst I can sometimes be overcritical, and given that this is a movie that I wouldn't watch even if I gouged my own eyes out with a particularly blunt spoon, your answer is much appreciated
