"David Fincher has made some questionable changes to Fight Club for the 4K release"

They changed the prescription bottle from 300mg to 0.5mg of Xanax? Are you trying to tell me that Marla's doctor wasn't killing her via overdose several times a day??? That changes the whole story! :)

I'm sure there's some funny story about the props team, things being too small to show up on film, etc.

See this makes me sad, as I always saw the insane dose of Xanax as just another subtle sign that the narrator is unreliable and that everything isn’t to be believed. Thought it was intentional… shame to learn it wasn’t and see this changed

These are weird changes. Marla doesn't have a pimple anymore? We needed a lens-flare? What was Fincher smoking when he did this?

Incidentally, I never would have noticed these things because, frankly, Marla's skin condition is not a big part of the story and I haven't studied it shot-by-shot from a dermatological point of view. Almost wish I didn't read that article, it's annoying that the article exists and that Fincher did something so annoying. The pox on both their houses.

Will this movie likely get a K upgrade to match the new 4K disc? I’m new to all this still and this is the first release that is getting a new 4k version since I started my K journey. So not sure how it’ll work.

Yes, it will. But, primarily because this is 20th Century (Disney) and K generally gets all Disney 4K Catalog Upgrades. Other studios are more spotty with K.

If you already own it in HD there will be an upgrade price, but because it's Disney it will only be a slight discount from the full price (~10% off). If you haven't bought it yet, wait for the 4K.

Thank you for the info, that's good to know. Nice that Disney tends to upgrade their catalogue titles. I am sure I'll take advantage of that in the future. I do wish thier D2D prices were lower, but actual sales do help I have noticed.

I did scan my Blu-ray of Fight Club but I didn't buy it on K as I was waiting for the 4K info. I'll wait for an actual sale though.

My 4k physical disc should be here tomorrow, looking forward to revisiting the movie, it’s been several years since I’ve seen it.

And yet when it first appeared last night (and I bought it) it was $24.99 with an upgrade price of $21.67:

I guess it doesn't always pay to be the early bird?

I am really pleasantly surprised this is on sale right away. Instant buy!

Good news, the upgrade kept the HD file on my server so I can hold onto it. WTFincher!?!?

To me it doesn’t look darker at all as the article says, but more flat and washed out like a modern movie. I’ve only seen a few minutes though.

It appears that D.Fincher has drawn inspiration from Madame Tussauds. Just like J.Cameron.

I watched maybe about the first hour last night. The brightness/tone of the movie looked fine to me. I think it looks a bit scrubbed though. Not really noticing much in terms of film grain and fine detail in faces and such. I also see a tiny amount of sharpening/edge enhancement from time to time but not egregious. Definitely doesn't look as good as I was hoping for.
