Coming Soon?

Does Kaleidescape announce Coming Soon titles? For example, Godfather trilogy is coming out on 4K blu-ray next week. I'm not sure if I should order the discs or if Kaleidescape will have it in their store... Anybody know?

Those are the Studio announced release dates. Release date in the K Store is still not known, but given that those films have been around awhile (unlike a new theater release), I would expect them to be available for digital download on or near the date noted.

I see JohnJ and I posted at the same time...... :)

It depends. Sometimes we're able to offer movies for pre-order, sometimes not.

The studios will typically specify not only the release date of a movie (obviously), but also the date when we can offer it for pre-order, and the date when we can talk about an upcoming release.

Love Sony… They must let you announce preorders the day it comes out in theaters AND at a decent price! SJ

And yet there is still a long list of Sony catalog titles available in 4K HDR on disc that still are no where to be found on K.

Fair points (@KDeering and JohnJ). I'll see if there's any update.

Thanks for that. It's not even so much as a pre-order issue, as just knowing if a title will be available at all. For example, Kino Lorber has a bunch of amazing 4K titles that are not coming to Kaleidescape sadly. So might as well order those discs. But I'd hate to order discs and then end up with a Kaleidescape option.

Unfortunately, if we know we're going to get a title, we normally can't say (until the dates when it's allowed -- this is not limited to pre-order). And in cases where we can't currently get a title, that's a situation that could change in the future. So it would be a mistake to say, "We're not getting that movie," only to have the situation change down the road.
