How wonderful it is to already own the title and then get a nice upgrade.

Just wish down the road, they would also incorporate the 7.1 track (currently only available on the HD version) for the cinematic file.
I agree, although the 5.1mix still sounds pretty good, I’m just glad it got the upgrade the film it deserved 👍

Maybe one day they will do a re-release with the Atmos mix that was used in theatres. I watched it again recently as my oldest outstanding UHD I hadn’t watched (much better film than I remembered when seeing in the cinema, maybe the hype ruined it a bit at the time) and the 7.1 audio track was fantastic. The difference it makes when a director actually uses all the audio as part of the storytelling is immense, certainly one of the best soundtracks I’ve heard in my theatre.

I really should start making a rating system so I can remember which films I think are demo material because I always forget!

Whaat? The 4k version has inferior audio to the HD version? Very disappointing.

I’ve noticed that on a number of DTS-X movies in 4k or and 4KC that only have the better audio mix on the HD versions. Drives me bonkers, but I know it is the studios not KScape. Hopefully that will eventually change.
I’ve looked for an email for Universal in particular so I can pester them to at the very least give us the missing Atmos mixes if DTS-X isn’t an option but literally couldn’t find anything on the website.

There’s also a few from Paramount missing DTS-X like Gladiator and whilst I’m not happy about it I can at least understand if they just outright aren’t supporting DTS-X on any digital 4K releases.

Either way the assets are there and available on disc and I want them, especially as they are now giving us full fat Atmos so there really shouldn’t be any reason why the digital departments can’t go back and get them.

I wonder why KScape can't simply add the audio from the HD version.

I do it all the time with my physical media rips. Either it's against licensing or they don't have the tools perhaps.

Matching audio from different sources also runs the risk of unintentional A/V sync issues.
K has called this out themselves before to folks who simply ask why they can't attach an audio track to a separately provided video source (outside of licensing issues). Anyone that has remuxed knows you can't assume a proper line-up. The 4K simply having a newer version of the studio log can wreak havoc.

I have remuxed a few titles, however I have stopped ever since. Imho, the juice was not worth the squeeze. But It was fun trying to get the best audio mated to the preferred video. The one example that comes to mind immediately is gravity. I remuxed the 3d version with atmos to get the best of both worlds. It remains one of my highly decorated HT projects. Lol.

It finally happened!

Is there a new update?

The best feeling is seeing a movie now in Cinematic that you already own and like, that you can download for free. Especially if they add Atmos or DTX-S.

Great to hear about The Revenant! Natural lighting and cold landscapes are going to look insane with the extra color dynamic range on Cinematic. Downloading that right now.

The 4K Cinematic HDR version of The Revenant is reference quality as far as I'm concerned. It is absolutely gorgeous with my Front projection system displaying on a 14' wide screen. I think its the best of all the 4K Cinematic Titles to date. There is definitely an improvement over the standard 4K HDR presentation. Colors, Focus, Clarity, and especially Depth perception are incredible. Almost 3D at times.

I'm still waiting for 4K Cinematic versions of Alien and Aliens. I assume it will happen eventually and I hope to have a smile that stretches ear to ear.
Plenty going on, but instead of all these sub par releases, I wish they would try to concentrate on some top tier older films more. I love my system though. Not really complaining, just hoping!

I would like them to complete titles in a collection that have only some of them in a Cinematic version. For example, two of the three "A Quiet Place" titles have been upgraded and all but one of the "Jurassic World" titles have been upgraded. Why don't they complete these? Not to mention, the newer "Star Trek" movies.

And one of the Deadpools
