[Buyer’s Guide] Kaleidescape Quality Compared to Blu-ray & other Digital Sources

Did they update other titles? I've been holding off on superman until this got fixed
I don’t think they have updated it... But I’ll be honest… its soundtrack sounds awesome…. I bet the disk does look a little better due to rmarci’s findings.. but I wasn’t disappointed with how it looked, this movie is SDR labeled HDR as it doesn’t go more bright than 200 nits… but the movie isn’t dim by any means. Just a modern day movie where they choose to keep it SDR.

I watched Minority Report 4K SDR yesterday to see if I could provide some feedback on its quality. It is a very grainy and highly textured movie so it is not the best use case. I used Strato C, Sony 85" X95L and Sony STR-AZ7000ES receiver.

I then watched different chapters of the HD version for comparison purposes.

Unfortunately, the only conclusion I could draw is that I saw very little difference between the two versions. Since I wasn't watching side-by-side, I can't be more technical or more helpful. Nothing stood out on either version to differentiate the two versions to my naive eyes.
Breaking news:

Minority Report in 4K and HDR (DV) is being released on 12/9/25.

Rmarci.. K listed “Tron Legacy” and “Master and Commander” as updated with video improvements… any chance you going to take a gander at them?

Hey folks, let me save you a little time — those updates were to update the Dolby audio tracks on the movie as described in this thread. There’s no update to the video portion. That “Video and audio improvements” message should really be “Video and/or audio improvements” — it’s a generic term used when a new version is published that doesn’t fit one of the more specific categories like “Added extras”.

Caught Stealing 2025

Seriously??? RED push again!!!
exactly the same mistake as in ''28 Days Later'' and ''I Know What You Did Last Summer''. Compared against two sources (Movies Anywhere and iTunes), both SDR and HDR10 are affected (I haven’t checked DV). Clearly they don’t perform any pixel-peeping screenshot comparisons against their source, something that would prevent 100% of these issues. The only upside is that there are no block artifacts, and the compression is “okay-ish.”
