Bundling Existing Movies

Greetings, head of Customer Engagement here. We mostly offer single title discounts, check the Special Pricing collection for weekly deals. Our proprietary Superbundle feature is unique in that it allows customers to complete their collection, without having to buy the entire "hard" bundle of films like most other platforms require. Content providers will provide steeper discounts on their content when it is bundled, which makes Superbundles a great offer. However, I assure you The Batman will be discounted on it's own at some point.

"Our proprietary Superbundle feature is unique in that it allows customers to complete their collection, without having to buy the entire "hard" bundle of films like most other platforms require."

That strikes to the core of the thread and my original suggestion. I want to complete to my collection in ~4 of the current bundles available right now, but I already own most of the titles. In a few bundles, I only need 1 film and need to add 3 to bundle. In one of the bundles (X-Men), I would buy 3 films, but the bundle requires adding 4 to discount.

If the goal is completing collections, then already owned films could count towards the "bundle" count to trigger the discount.

And also I'd like to emphasize that it's even worse because in some situations a users ineligibility to buy a bundle because they've previously bought all/most of the titles that a single movie costs more than what they'd pay for that movie if they could "delete" titles from their library.

If a user is ineligible for the bundle due to previously purchased titles, prior purchases should count, even at a slightly less discounted price if that's what it takes.

Here's my current situation more directly.

Batman, already own them all except one. Would like to buy The Batman to complete my collection.

X-Men, only need 3 films, but have to add 4 to discount the bundle. I'm noticing now though that this bundle is kind of screwy. I seem to actually already own The Rogue Cut and Wolverine Extended in 4K, but they show up to purchase in the bundle. I wonder if I somehow own the UHD version but not the HD? I guess really in this case then, I just want to buy The New Mutants.

Spider-Man, need just 1 film, the new Venom. Have to add 3 to discount bundle.

I already own all the movies in the Star Trek, DC Universe, and Transformers bundles. I own a lot of movies... :)

I'm missing a few films in the DC animated bundle, but the bulk of those are stuck in HD like the DC animated films often are on K, but that's a separate concern given those films have 4K disc releases and are available in 4K on iTunes/Vudu.

For what it's worth too to the K folks, the bundle program is awesome. I had been suggesting bundle discounting for years. I love having it and the flexibility of the super bundle itself is also really great! The needing just one or two film thing is an edge case.

I agree. Bundles are great. It's unfortunately an edge case that affects your more frequent customers. I buy a lot of movies, including a lot of movies at full price. I'm ok with that generally, but this specific situation rankles a lot.

I noticed sometimes you get the extended cut included with the purchase but sometimes you have to buy it separately. This is usually the case when the standard version is in 4K and the extended version is HD only. It is even more interesting, the extended version HD is typically more expensive than the standard version in 4K when you do D2D. For instance, the Martian is $4.92 to D2D in 4K HDR but another $13 and some to get the extended cut in HD (which there is a 4K disc version).

I hear what you are saying and I assumed so before you chimed in.

There is a price threshold I am willing to pay for certain movies. After having seen the sale price (which I am not eligible because I own way too many movies), this price threshold is even more solidified. Kaleidescape will not make more revenue from me on this certain title simply because I won’t buy it until it is offered for $9.99. I am pretty sure I am not the only one who feels this way. So what’s the point of waiting? Figure out a way to make it $9.99 for those who already have all the rest of the titles, take our money now. Not only you would take our money now but also earn our appreciation and believe in your product even more by taking care of your customers. It seems to me like a win win rather than one win later.

I might be ignorant to a fact unknown to us that allowing us the sale price now might not be possible. In that case, I appriciate your efforts here to enlighten us.
