I should follow-up and say my above information applies to video. Audio doesn't factor really. Disc carries lossless audio and Kaleidescape carries lossless audio using the same DTS and Dolby formats. There's no difference or extra magic there.
For the video too, it's not really a matter of bit depth. We are talking 10-bit HDR (or sometimes 12-bit Dolby Vision on disc). That's the same. It's all encoded bit rate that makes the difference.
