I recently downloaded Sinners in 4K HDR to watch and found it dark and dim compared to my viewing of it last year. All of my video equipment is the same, and I don't have any issues with other movies. Curious if anyone sees the same.

I didn't have any issues with the 4K HDR version I watched last year, I watched it at least 3 times. But this re downloaded of the movie is not the same. I'll have to delete and download again tonight.

I watched it recently about 2 weeks ago for the first time in Dolby vision on my Strato V and found it to be very dim and dark. I could barely see facial features of some characters. My room was mildly lit so I tossed it up as a highly praised transfer that I thought was not that great.

Maybe there is an issue?

That's exactly how I would describe my recent watch.

I will take a look tomorrow and get back to you. I only seen the Cinematic version, but Ill dl the HDR version as well.

Watching on what? PJ/TV

TV, same TV I watched it on last year.
I'm sure it was - but you didn't clarify that initially :D . Gonna be interesting if others make the same observation. I watched it on a JVC NZ8 projector and have to say it was a "challenging" watch, but my set-up is "light deprived" and so the presentation was particularly "dark". Watching on my 10 year old Loewe OLED produced a much brighter and detailed presentation. Which TV you watching on - out of curiosity.

No your right, more information is better. My TV is a Hisense U8K, so QLED.

Just looked at it in HDR in my JVC nz700.
It looked the same as I could remember.
I didnt see anything wrong with it?
Yess, the movie is dark as ....
But that is the way the movie should be.

I compared the UHD bluray with the Cinematic version. I felt the Cinematic was a tad darker but going back and forth it's either the same or only slightly darker.

There's certainly nothing 'wrong' with the Cinematic version (e.g. black crush).

Good to know! I was debating whether to pick up the standard 4K HDR or go straight for the Cinematic version. Sounds like the higher bitrate transfer on the Cinematic release makes a noticeable difference with shadow detail.
It might depend on your system. Do let us know what you think.
