    Basic Questions

You are correct that the players do not store data. The players must be paired with a server, which stores data on hard drives.

    New Cinema One Disc Jammed

I agree with BigHat. First option: contact Kaleidescape. Second option: power cycle the device, which might cause it to eject the problem disk. It might take two or three power cycles to cause the disk to eject. FWIW, it might be worth power cycling the unit before trying to open up the...

    K player for outdoor TV

Take a look at the "old" Kplayer 2500, which you can connect via component cables. It does not have importing capabilities or 1080 output, but it might be sufficient for your needs--and only costs a few hundred dollars.

Flash coming from new 3u server

Transepoch is right. The led light on the hot spare in the 3U server is supposed to flash blue ever couple of seconds. (A flashing or solid amber/orange light would indicate an issue with drive.) I would consider keeping the front case of the server open to see you can see the write flashing...

    M700--BRD Import Times

Assuming that one is using high quality gigabit switches and at least Cat 5e cables, then I think the import times for a given BRD disc should be fairly similar from one system to the next. The biggest factor is likely the differences from one BRD to the next. It strikes me that it will be...

    M700--BRD Import Times

Jim: Thanks. My guess is that there are some BR movies that will import in 30 to 35 minutes, but most will import in 50 to 70 minutes--fairly comparable to the import times for the M500.

    M700--BRD Import Times

I believe the KScape literature indicates that the M700 imports blu-ray discs substantially faster than the M500--with the vault's stated import speed of two blu-ray discs per hour (on average). Are users seeing this level of import speed on average?

    Multiple 1U Servers

I think I understand your question. I believe each server should have its own parity disk. That means the 2TB on the first server will remain reserved for parity (for the first server's data) even if you add a second server. The second server would then need its own parity disk.

    Troubleshooting amber lights

If this system has not been used on your network before (or is new to you), then it may have a static IP address (as suggested earlier) that your router is not capable of assigning. Stated differently, it be trying to use an address that your router was not configured to give. By way of...

    Blu-Ray Delay Confirmed

I assume that the delays in the rollout of the blu-ray player are mainly attributable to the industry's implementation of mandatory managed copy. I am not going to get excited about the system's ability to copy and store blu-ray discs until there is more transparency from the movie industry...

    iPad Remotescape?

I know the discussion about the TPS-6X is off topic, but I have a question for Jerry and others: Is the battery life on the other Crestron touchpanels better -- or do other touchpanels at least make it easy for the end user to replace the battery?

Kaleidescape Conductor with MAC / Parallels

A further thought: Sharing the same iTune library files may not be possible. The iTunes library files likely contain file paths to each song and it possible that the format of the file path information in iTunes for Windows might be incompatible with the format for iTunes for Mac. But it still...

Kaleidescape Conductor with MAC / Parallels

    1. Opening iTunes for Window should cause no problems because the music library files (the two iTunes files we have been discussing) are currently separate from those in iTunes for Mac. 2. KScape Conductor will automatically update the library on the Windows side. In other words, when you...

Kaleidescape Conductor with MAC / Parallels

    1. Make sure that the only files in your iTunes music folder are the non Kscape files. 2. In iTunes, go to preferences, then advanced. Make sure that the box "copy to itunes media folder when adding to library" is UNCHECKED. 3. Close iTunes and then delete the two iTunes files I listed...

    Multiple, Simultaneous Streams

Rbienstock: What you are describing is not a truly simultaneous feed--although it is possible that the cueing of each player could be done so precisely that the streams are flowing with little perceptible delay. (But even a slight difference in the streams could be unwelcome if one were trying...
