Movie Updates

I believe K doesn't have the Atmos mix because the studio is only sending out a lossy version. I think they should at least give us the choice and just show that it is DD+ instead of TrueHD.

I see Oblivion just got updated to 4k cinematic, no update to Dolby Atmos😕
Outside of being down a bit on low frequency bass the Atmos track is otherwise a banger. 🤯 Serious immersive effects when
one of the drones attacks the base camp.
I requested Revenant when I visited with them specifically. I want to see if the increased bitrate will eliminate the subtle banding in the opening sequence. Plus I love the film.
That's a good one too. Amazing looking title made even more amazing by the fact that it was one of the initial 4K disc releases. The lighting is one for the ages. Would love to see what 4K_C might do for it.

Bummer. So glad I have the disc.

Edit: Just did the d2d along with How the Grinch who stole Christmas….which is also missing the DTS:X track, found on the disc.

It's Dolby Atmos now...same as the new-ish 25th Anniversary disc that came out last November.
I have both the editions. The newer 25th anniversary edition includes both dts:X and atmos. The old edition only supported dts:X

Edit: I noticed the atmos track is present on the K version. For some reason I felt it was missing an immersive mix. That’s great news.

Oblivion still looks better video wise in HD than the 4K version. Not sure why Universal did what looks like a low pass filter on it, but it is pretty obvious when you A/B them.

I just finished watching the 4k cinematic version of Oblivion and it is definitely an improvement in the video department. To bad about the Atmos track as it adds better audio experience!!!

Question… Oblivion is better looking on 1080p hd then on 4k sdr or hdr10, can somebody maybe check if the new cinematic file has a better picture quality then the 1080p hd version please?
Thank you

I’ve never bothered to see the HD version of Oblivion, but I really didn’t mind the 4k Blu-ray version. Plus the 4k disc supports an immersive track. I will be checking out the cinematic version later tonight.

I have to agree with your assessment. Just finished watching the 4k cinematic version and I’m quite impressed with the PQ. Just wish there was a way to remux the audio. Lol.

Maybe I’m in the minority… but I’d love to see the “Transformers” movies in cinematic… the fast pace action, fast cuts…, I think would be a very noticeable upgrade. “Age of Extinction” and “The Last Knight” even have the imax footage fully on point.
