Since there's been quite a bit of talk and interest to find 4K Cinematic titles with full 4:4:4 chroma sampling, figured I'd post a list to report on new additions to the store that are 4:4:4.

It should be noted that these will always be Cinematic HDR10 titles as the maximum chroma sampling on Cinematic Dolby Vision titles will be 4:2:2. So as a general rule of thumb if the movie is available on our store in Cinematic 4K Dolby Vision AND Cinematic HDR10 then the HDR10 version will be 4:4:4.

With that in mind, here is the list of newly added 4K Cinematic HDR10 4:4:4 content for this week ending 2026-07-10 (in no particular order):
  • Dune
  • Dune: Part Two
  • Batman Begins
  • The Dark Knight
  • The Dark Knight Rises
  • Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
  • Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
  • Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
  • Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
  • Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi
  • Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
  • Ballerina: From the World of John Wick
  • Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning

You should start with titles people actually want instead of these obscure things. ;)

Bohemian Rhapsody HR10-C would be an exception (there could be more) as it is 4:2:2 (cinematic-HDR10). Curious why this is not 4:4:4?

They have to be provided the asset from the studio, in the past their files provided were 422 whether it was DV or HDR.

Bohemian is just Cinematic HDR and doesn't have a Dolby Vision Cinematic version

The Gentlemen is cinematic HDR10 and doesn’t include the DV version. But it supports 4:4:4.

If only HDR10 is listed, it could be either 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 depending on what the studio provides.

What about SDR? I assume those are a mix of 4:2:2 and 4:4:4.

It would be nice if that info was added to the store details.

The only SDR cinematic title I watched was Argo and it was 4:4:4. Yeah it would be nice to have that info as heads up.

The difference between native 422 and 444 would be so fleeting it isn't even remotely in the stratosphere of being a big deal, so I really wouldn't worry about that at all. The vast majority of displays are going to likely convert to something at some point anyway for any processing they are doing.

What percentage of the increased file size is due to the additional chroma information and what percentage is due to less compression?
