US Digital Releases for July & August 2026

Original or edited because we live in a sensitive world
Hmm, I hadn't thought of that. It's not clear from the listing.

Since you raise the point, I appreciate the sensitivity, I mean, I feel it as well. At the same time, I also sincerely believe that erasing the past inhibits us from learning, growing, and pattern-blocking injustice in the present and future. Personally, I hope it's not edited, or at least offers both the theatrical version and a new version. WB has done well with this in the past, for example Blade Runner, one of my favorite movies, has some sensitive issues in its theatrical cut, but we still have the record of it, which I think long term is actually helpful. I could of course be completely wrong, and I'm sorry if I'm not seeing this fairly.

I hope they keep it uncut as well, the Bond films survived so hopefully it’s good.

Yeah, re-writing history is a dangerous thing.

If they're editing for sensitivity then Quinton Tarentino will be working at a car wash next year.

There is absolutely no reason to think that Warner is going to edit Gone with the Wind. They received backlash for temporarily removing it from streaming and simply added “context” before the movie. The only alternate cuts that exist are foreign releases with a scroll to tell audience why America was at war with itself.

imo, the "context" screen up top is almost always how these issues should be handled. I agree with the sentiment that to censor the past is to forget the past and they who forget the past ... you know.

Decal Releasing (DECAL on K Store) has assumed the digital rights to a large group of titles as of July 1, 2026. In order to not takeover the release list, I have made a note of this and put the full list of titles at the bottom of the page. I was worried that I'd have to handle a dump of legacy Universal titles during my first month on duty, but they dropped at the end of June. So, here's what I get for being relieved. :)

Some of these have been (or are still) on K under different studios, but I don't expect that to last long. If you see any titles in the list that are/were on your Wishlist and they're still available, I'd grab them. Although K should now have access to all of these titles, looking at the DECAL titles on the K Store shows that we're unlikely to get (any of?) them.

The Late Show (1977) in HD with DTS-HD Master Mono from Warner Bros

The blu-ray of Random Harvest is Warner Archive. They don't share their restorations with digital stores. The HD on Apple and other stores is the old master.
There is an ongoing thread over at Home Theater Forum that tracks which Digital versions are from the same master as discs. I just bought Ivanhoe (1952) which was just added to Kscape library. Checking what Kaleidescape has available with the list that's verified, it looks like the movies that Kaleidescape has added to the library correspond to that list.

Extremely pricey, and likely difficult to monitor, methinks.
Yeah. I worked at Cisco and they had a video encoding "device" that my group needed to write choreography software for. I say "device" because it was likely a chassis stuffed with GPUs and CPUs - I never saw it, just could access it over the network.

We'd send it a video to re-encode and a few hours later it would day "done!" That was 10y ago so now maybe it'll be only an hour.

Mad Men in 4K... interesting. I read there were some issues when HBO Max released this such as cut scenes, visible crew, color timing issues but overall fidelity was better than previous HD.

I would love to hear how these new Cinematic versions compare to the current available HD versions (which I just purchased in May when there was a $45 bundle offered).

Balls Up (2026) in DV/HDR/SDR/HD with Dolby TrueHD Atmos from MGM

Stop! That! Train! (2026) SDR/HD with DTS-HD Master 5.1 from Bleecker Street

The Breadwinner (2026) DV/HDR/SDR/HD with Dolby TrueHD Atmos from Sony Pictures

Pre-Order (as noted above)
Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026) in C_DV/C_HDR/C_SDR/DV/HDR//SDR/HD from Disney

What's up with 50 first dates only getting C4K and skipping standard 4K?
I’d imagine we’re going to see a lot of these kinds of oddities and I assume (hope) they’ll all be temporary. K’s had a huge backlog of encodes and updates, and I’ sure they’re uploading things as available (like Mad Men).

I sure hope it's not intentional to drive K purchases. That would be poor form. Seems odd for a movie getting an HD->4K upgrade to prioritize C4K first when only a handful of users can play it at the moment.
