US Digital Releases for July & August 2026

The blu-ray of Random Harvest is Warner Archive. They don't share their restorations with digital stores. The HD on Apple and other stores is the old master.

I watched the Apple TV version which I bought when it was on sale and it looked quite good for streaming. I will pick up the blu ray at any rate.

Warner is finally releasing one of my favorite classics on blu-ray: Random Harvest (1941). It has also been available in HD on Apple TV store for a long while. So I hope Kaleidescape will finally release HD version.
I'm definitely seeing my own last remaining must-have films coming to both HD and 4K HDR. I recently heard a commentator attribute that to the slight uptick in 4K HDR disc sales from the previous year.

Yes! The single bright spot in the doom-and-gloom of the physical media market is the increase in 4K UHD Blu-ray revenue. Now, to temper the hype, we're still dealing with a shrinking market and units are down across the board. But, 4K isn't shrinking as much as other formats and there have been substantial increases in prices which has led to the rise in total revenue. $30 discs have been replaced with $50 Steelbooks and $70 Collector's Editions and consumers are showing up for it. I'm not entirely sure "Raise the prices! Squeeze them for all they're worth!" is the best lesson for Hollywood, but it has caught studio (and boutique) attention and product is being delivered.

Maybe this should be discussed in a separate thread but the news from Sony is a bit disturbing for me as a digital media 'owner'.

Physical media owners might be upset about Sony stopping physical release of games.

But we as digital media 'owners' should be concerned (maybe?) with the announcement that people who bought movies on Sony's playstation system will lose access to the movies they 'bought'

I am not sure I got all the facts right here so please correct me.

I just hope that with Kaleidescape, we will continue to have access to movies that we bought even if Kscape loses license to the film. (As has been indicated before)

Its something specific with Studio Canal movies.

This has always been a risk of digital "ownership"....there simply is no such thing as digital ownership. By only having a standalone Strato...I am taking a huge risk each time I buy a movie...which at any moment can be removed from my library. Only way around this would be infinite storage...and one we have all the movies we will ever want....disconnect our players and servers from the internet so they cannot get any firmware updates that would lock out movies. Not the least bit realistic...so we accept the risk.

I add that I think laws should be put in place that if K or Sony or whomever is forced by studios to remove a title...they should be required to refund the $$ paid for the movie. Otherwise its equivalent to retailer selling you something...taking your $$$ then coming and stealing it back.

Yes, but so far, if Kaleidescape lost license to a movie that I purchased already, I might not be able to buy it, but I still have access to download it anytime.
So they only lose license to sell? ...but can still host the files? That is different from the Sony and every other case of this I have seen...once they lose the license...they lose the files.

I hope that is the case....luckily not had to test it out ..yet. :)

Gone With the Wind is a pretty high profile tile, so I hope we get the 4K on K. Been waiting for a 4K release to buy and rewatch.

Totally! The fact that these titles are WB direct is a strong indication they’re coming to K at the same time or a couple of days later.

Hopefully as 4K Cinematic. I’ll D2D the discs and fling them into crates.
