Strato E issue, rewinding enables the subtitles

I have this annoying issue with my Strato E.
Very often, but not always, when I rewind a movie, it enables the subtitles.

I'm using the Android app.

This is a feature of the latest kOS update. Subtitles are automatically enabled when you rewind less than a minute. It's intended to help if there's some dialog that you didn't catch and you needed to rewind for. The subtitles turn themselves off when you reach the point from which you started to rewind.

I detailed this and demonstrated it in content on my channel. It's always interesting how people interpret software features differently. I've been wanting this behavior for so long, but to others, it's an "annoying issue". :) I say this as a development manager by day as well that oversees the creation of many software capabilities.

I also loved this feature and actually requested it soon after getting my V. I actually use it almost every time I watch a movie.

I like this feature! I use it often. The subtitles usually appear in the black bar area at the bottom of the screen so that's ideal. It can be turned off through the subtitle menu, I'm not sure if the automatic portion can be disabled but I'm not someone that would want that.

For normal viewing, this might be a nice feature, but for demonstration and testing purposes, it´s a real PITA.
Image comparison becomes almost impossible, as you can´t use rewind anymore to go back to a certain image as this will engage subtitles.
This clearly needs to be a configurable option.

I find this very annoying. This should be a selectable option for those that like it. Why K would force the feature makes little sense. It also starts toggling auto aspect control in the Radiance resulting in visual mayhem

I would highly recommend making this "feature" a user selectable option.

Being honest, I really do not care for the feature and find it annoying.

Many streaming services offer this option with CC, however, it does not seem to work reliably.

In general stuff like this should always be an option. The assumption that the reason anyone would rewind is because they did not understand what was said seems odd.
It's simply another example of the "powers that be" deciding what's best for you even though you don't want it.

agree 💯. this should be user-selectable.

That's another great reason to make this user-selectable! Never occured to me but should be obvious this "feature" interferes with doing A/B testing by dealers but also by users demonstrating their system.

I'm new to K-Scape and found this annoying at first and after the first couple of times it happening it occurred and then shutting back off automatically, I figured out it was a feature.

Holy gawd ! As I new Strato E user (and otherwise loving it) this feature is driving me CRAZY!!!!

I do lots of testing and scrolling around various movies and every damn time I rewind it turns on the subtitles!

So if I have scrolled back a few minutes, I have to sit there watching minutes of the damn subtitles on the screen when I don’t want to be seeing.

I thought for sure this would be a user selectable thing and I went looking everywhere how to turn it off and then I discovered this thread. What an absolute bummer.

How in the world is this not a feature that can’t be turned off???!!

Not being able to turn this off is certainly is the most user unfriendly feature on this product.

Before you hit play, just go to the subtitle menu in the movie and turn off subtitles. You do have to do it every time you rewind. But you don’t have to wait for it to auto turn off.
