Strato V Dynamic Range and Colorspace Issues

I don´t know the Atlona in particular, but usually, these kind of devices have a "passthrough" setting to (well) just pass through the EDID information it gets from the display down to the connected source/AVR.

EDIT: Just had a quick look at the manual: via the webfrontend of the matrix, you can assign specific EDIDs to each input. I´m assuming there´s something wrong with the settings, perhaps based on your previous setup.

This works:
Strato -> Anthem -> feeds 2 DV Displays
Atlona switcher works but all connected displays must be Dolby Vision rated

Had the exact same pink font osd with a new mono price hdmi cable. LG 83 OLED and the V are struggling with htcp 2.3 compatibility. I’ve ordered a 33ft thx cable to see if it fixes the problem
If you'd like, send me a PM. I have a different cable recommendation for you at that length, and I'm "next door" in Alabama.

I had to remove the Atlona switcher from the chain: I have a mix of LG OLED and Samsung QLED displays connected to it and realized that Samsung displays are not Dolby Vision compatible: so it was not the switcher or EDID settings.
Will edit my post above: the Anthem has 2 HDMI main zone outputs and both work for DV: all good

For me even forcing it in LLDV is causing issues. The color (pink) issue on the osd is showing up correctly, but missing metadata persists. Plus a few blackouts which is now happening quite frequently on both modes. I also believe the V is not playing well with D&M products.
I've been experiencing very intermittent split-second blackouts also. Roughly once every 20 minutes for maybe 0.3 sec. Watching House of the Dragon S2 in LLDV mode (3 noticeable blackouts in one episode). Audio never stutters or falters.

Just shot an email to support with details.

This is exactly the condition I was trying to describe. It gets worse with certain titles like furiosa and kingdom of the apes. I explained this to support as well and they opened a ticket. For now I have (quite reluctantly) hooked it directly to the display; not ideal as it doesn’t meet my specific requirements/ use-case, since I lose the OSD function.

However the “juice is not with the squeeze.”

Didn't know House of the Dragon S2 was on there. Seems prominence of the "Season Pass" feature has been all but eliminated.

Just finished the rewatch of S1 and was waiting for S2 to land on K, so good to see it's there.

TV Show compatibility with Strato V: I know that many TV series have not (yet?) updated to DV. However, in some cases, certain seasons have been updated while others have not. This makes intuitive sense if the first season(s) have been updated but not the latter season(s). However, when seasons 1 and 4 have been updated, but not 2 and 3, it makes little sense. Case in point: Banshee. Can anyone shed any light?

I think you mean updating to the new HD format, not updating to Dolby Vision.

I'm not certain about this particular title, but as described in the big Strato V thread, there are a bunch of different factors that can make an HD movie incompatible with Strato V, and what we're doing is incrementally updating our conversion tools to handle more of those factors with each tool generation. My guess would be that for whatever reason, Banshee 2 & 3 happen to have different characteristics than 1 and 4, and the current generation of tools don't yet handle those.

After receiving and connecting the Strato V as soon as it came out, I updated those movies that were available for viewing on Strato V. Within the next couple of days, two more movies were updated by K-scape. Since then, it has been nadda. I have 37 incompatible HD movies in my library about 50% of which are my favorite concerts. It seems that there might be something specific about the concerts that is slowing the conversion process. @MikeKobb, do you have any idea (ballpark) when we might expect to have complete compatibility of the movie store with the Strato V?

Congratulations on your new player!

As discussed in this post, and this post, it's a progressive process of updating our conversion tools to handle each of the factors that can make the older HD versions incompatible with Strato V. It's hard to guess why your concerts seem to be heavily represented among your un-converted titles, but I do know that high-sample-rate audio is one of the factors coming up in a tool update soon. I think that's likely a feature that's more common on concerts, so perhaps that's part of it.

I would like to set expectations as to frequency -- since there is a software development effort involved to do these tool updates, that happens on a certain release cadence. There could be as little as a month between updates, but if some of the additions are more complex they may span more than a month between updates.

Once we have a new tool release, then we can process all the titles that have been waiting on whatever features that new release contains. Processing the files takes time, and then we have to do a QA pass on them. So depending on how many titles were waiting on the release of a set of tools, it could take some number of weeks to get through those titles.

Thank you for your very thorough response Mike.
