Movie Updates

4K Cinematic - 219 GB!

Warning to owners with Strato C/S/X, be careful that you don’t trigger an HD update as you’ll lose HD Extras and downgrade to SD.

Very interesting. However the link indicates a 3.0 Dolby Digital mix (most likely lossy). The 3.0 mix on the disc is dts-Hd MA

Fwiw, there is a UK release with a 5.1 track, unlike the US release.

I'm just saying that there's not likely a 5.1 mix, though I could be entirely wrong. Maybe they originally were going to do a 5.1 mix for theatrical and then decided to drop to 3.0. Maybe they really did take the 3.0 mix and create a 5.1 mix with an upmixer. I don't know what happened. But IMDB indicating it was a 3.0 theatrical mix tells me it's more likely that the mix was always intended to be 3.0 and either the Kaleidescape mix is 3.0 in a 5.1 container or they did some sort of automated 5.1 mix at the studio level (Kaleidescape is contractually prohibited from altering the actual mix), but even that is unlikely or they would have put that on the disc as well.

The UK disc is 3.0 in a 5.1 container. I'd imagine the mezzanine file supplied to PVOD platforms has 5.1 PCM but with only three channels active, which is absolutely as it should be in this instance as the filmmakers went to great lengths to make The Holdovers look and sound as though the film was produced in the 1970s.

Updates to Black Panther and Wakanda Forever are downloading now. (Video and audio improvements). Anyone know what changed? They were already 4K C HDR10.

The Little Mermaid (1989-animated) just got the cinematic treatment.

I was in London two weeks ago and watched Les Miserables AGAIN at the West End - my wife and I were talking what a bad singer Hugh Jackman was in this movie - but this will be a great watch with Cinematic thanks to Kaleidescape the Gift That Keeps Giving.
I went looking for the best version of the West End Les Miserables On Blu Ray and I swear I owned it on Kelidescape but now its vanished - can they do that? I will be sending a e mail to Kaleidescape why this one has vanished from the store (and this is the one I owned).
For fans of Les Miserable the 25th Anniversary Concert at the O2 is a must watch - the performance is amazing except for Nick Jonas LOL.

Oops - Kaleidescape as always with thier world class service CALLED me (when does that happen these days a person calling LOL) and informed me that they see the movie on my K and it is in my ALL MOVIES folder.
It is no longer for sale on K Unfortunately.
False alarm here - I was panicking.

Les Miserables in Concert: The 25th Anniversary is my favorite iteration of this.
The voices are spectacular and the the reunion of the original Cast on stage at the end is demo worthy for performance. Sound and Video could use an upgrade though, although still thoroughly enjoyable.

Crowe was even worse. With the available talent pool and access to the best scripted musical ever penned, they managed to make the worst version ever. I don’t think I’ve ever been as disappointed in a movie ever.

I just shows that movie stars MOSTLY cannot do theater but theater guys can do movies - Mama Mia and Brosnan singing LOL.
And 25th anniversary is spectacular but Nick Jonas looks like a lost child amongst the Sopranos and Theater Folks.
