Have a new Sony. Am I right that I should only download HDR10?
And does the K app have the ability to set that as default?
Thanks everyone!

That is super helpful, Thank you so much!!!Hello! Welcome to the club. I am also an owner of a Sony Bravia 8 projector. To answer your questions; yes, you should download HDR10 movies where possible. If that option is not available and you have a Strato K, you may download a DV version and allow the Strato K to convert it to HDR10.
As for the other part of your question, the following is a summary of how you can set the default settings in Kaleidescape:
1. Log in to your Kscape account.
2. Select 'Manage' on the top right of the page.
3. Under 'Manage', select 'My Systems'.
4. The name for your system will be displayed, e.g. 'Home Theater'.
5. Select the 'Download Preferences' tab.
6. Under 'Playback Zone Quality Preferences', select the desired quality preference for the listed player(s).
7. At the bottom of the page, you can select whether or not you want to download extras by either selecting or deselecting the 'Extras' box.
Hopefully, this helps!

I was all set to get the NZ800. But my integrator is a “Sony guy”, and then it went on sale for $11,999, and it seemed to be a no brainer to go with the Sony. It looks incredible connected directly to the Strato K. I am well aware Sony is due for an upgrade, and I’m quite interested to see how Sony JVC and Epson respond to the Titan Noir Max’s of the world…hi question for both of you. I just wondered what the clincher was for each of you with your choice of this specific projector. It's one of the options I have for a purchase in the New Year and I am keen to understand what drives choices for others for me to consider too. Thanks
The other option for me currently (until I get further into this) is likely a JVC NZ800. I already have a MADVR which we expect to retain in the new setup as well, just in case that's relevant to your comments.
Thanks in advance![]()
You're welcome! I must add that I am also using a MadVR Extreme MK2 to handle my video processing. However, the new processor in the Bravia 8 and 9 projectors is outstanding!.That is super helpful, Thank you so much!!!
Hi, for me the decision was very easy since I was already in the Sony camp. Prior to upgrading to the Bravia 8 projector, I used a Sony VPL-VW885ES projector for over 9 years.hi question for both of you. To be clear, the K is en route, and presently it is connected to a V.I was all set to get the NZ800. I’m also planning on adding a MADVR, but you know, financial priorities and all that.
Like a MadVR?You should download SDR. Projectors can't do HDR properly without outside help.
MadVR or Lumagen Radiance Pro, yes. Not sure why MadVR seems to be the only option considered around here; a Lumagen Radiance Pro is at least as good.Like a MadVR?

Not true but thanks for your opinion. And telling people with newer projectors to download SDR is such a poor piece of e of advice it’s laughable. You should download SDR. Projectors can't do HDR properly without outside help.
I feel sorry for any person seeking real advice and takes your over inflated opinion as legitimate advice.
