Also, it kinda missed the point that Kscape isn’t trying to be a “Netflix”. It’s more an alternative/option/convenience to buying 4k disks and everything that goes with that.
Like others have mentioned here, imo, Linus can easily afford an sK and even storage (I’ve seen some of his videos with the huge theater style projector, 1st 115” tcl tv in the US, 136” Hisense RGB etc) so why they make it such a major point on the buy in cost kinda surprised me.
Ehh. I don't know about that. Of course he has to play the game a bit, but mostly his videos are quite chill and his "takes" definitely aren't pure ragebait. As contrived as a few of his hangups may be, it's all pretty grounded and it really seems like they're trying to help viewers buy the right tech things for themselves. He's a personality built on rage click bait and trying to get clicks.
How so? You asked, he gave you his opinion. That’s bold and arrogant.
I think his current TV is some LED thingy from China. It was $20K. I think they cover that in this video, albeit briefly. I'm not sure I'd go Kaleidescape before my screen was OLED, projector (plus Lumagen or MadVR) or one of those pro-level video wall things...
He has some sometimes odd dogmas about what's "worth the money" and what isn't. In the WAN clip he says HELL NO to whether it's worth it or not, but he's a bit less dogmatic about that point in this video. Yet he could buy a K player and the biggest server easy, and he is clearly able to appreciate the improvement compared to UHD Blu-ray that 4K Cinema delivers. But he's never spend the money![]()
Sarcasm was implied in my first question. Arrogance is assuming or making the statement that one MUST do this or one MUST have this otherwise you are making a "mistake". He wasn't presenting his opinion, he was making a statement of fact. Big difference. How so? You asked, he gave you his opinion.
To clarify, I am of the opinion that a setup involving a projector and HDR material requires proper DTM, which is, so far, only found in a Lumagen Radiance Pro and the MadVR devices. I don’t sugarcoat things when I spoutHow so? You asked, he gave you his opinion.
I agree. Thanks. Yes, I'm sure that Tone Mapping external to projectors help in some sort or fashion. I'm actually getting ready to play with Void as I got in on the beta testing. We'll see. I'm not a fan of the fact that it is certain fact that to get the best, you have to pay tons of cash to some external 3rd party company. I sincerely hope that the “Luma HDR” thing comes out and has DTM abilities to match the aforementioned, because they are very expensive. My LRP likely won’t last forever and a Luma plus some sort of proper, large HDMI switch will likely be significantly cheaper than aquiring another LRP.
Let me remind you that, as mentioned by Naiera, there is a cheaper alternative on the horizon (the Luma).I agree. Thanks. Oh, you know he is buying one with that Home theater. He even made fun of that in the review.I just watch a few of the clips on YouTube. I clicked this one expecting to hear about something new and actually SECRET; turns out it was some I'd known about for a decade or two.
It's funny, because both Luke and Linus could easily afford a player and a server.

I’m watching. The fact that the guy has gone radio silent for so long is concerning. As I said, I’m testing Void.Let me remind you that, as mentioned by Naiera, there is a cheaper alternative on the horizon (the Luma).
I'm aware.He owns a private jet:
He started as a tech “Everyman” but he’s been having a harder time hanging onto that persona, even as he makes his “yacht” jokes in this video, or advocates for “sustainability” in others to try to retain relatability.
I actually appreciate his audience for regularly calling him out when he tiptoes into hypocrisy.
Gotcha. I hadn't heard of Void (just looked it up); it looks interesting.I’m watching. The fact that the guy has gone radio silent for so long is concerning. As I said, I’m testing Void.
Linus helped build YouTube. He's one of the original influencers. He's a personality built on rage click bait and trying to get clicks. Because that's how he gets "rich". I don't put much weight in anything he says or does. Just for framing, I'm definitely anti-influencer....... These people are a waste of space.
