I see that Criterion are releasing Local Hero in 4K - hoping Kaleidescape can update their woeful transfer to the new remastered 4K?
 
This is a Warner title and although we’ve seen a couple of examples where WB 4K titles on Criterion Disc have been released digitally, I don’t think we have enough data to predict what could happen with future releases.
 
Criterion has just recently announced their December slate. Bill Hunt, of The Digital Bits, discusses January's unannounced Criterion releases on his Patreon page where he asks people not to publicly discuss the titles mentioned. Regardless, it's Warner and we don't know if we'll see it digitally. Personally, I'm hoping that we see The Right Stuff both as I'd love to have it on K and it might give us more clues of what to expect.

Criterion is not releasing a 4K version, unfortunately. Well, at least not in January that is.
 
Yes, this was my bad. In my enthusiasm I read Bill Hunts post as 4k - apologies. But still a 1080p version would be better than the SD K version....
 
Received this yesterday and watched it last night. Its the best I have seen the film look. Still really hoping we get a Kaleidescape version in the future though that is at least HD.
