I have been tracking the new 4K releases the last few months and was forced to buy a few titles on disc that I was eagerly awaiting on Kaleidescape.

Charlie Wilson’s War (NBC Universal)
Falling Down (Warner Bros)
Go (Sony)

I am surprised we have not seen these titles launched on Kaleidescape as they don’t appear to be with the typical funky rights-holders.

Has something changed with the studios or Kaleidescape?

Hopefully we see them at some point …

When No Country for Old Men was released in 4K by Criterion, the K version was upgraded to 4K as well. Did K get the 4K Criterion version or are they different 4Ks?

This is all as expected with boutique label releases. While you list the studios (that maintain digital rights) those discs are from Shout!, Arrow, and Arrow. Universal via any boutique generally never show up digitally, same for Sony. Warner is a bit newer and we don’t know all the rules yet, but we have seen some Warner via Criterion digital releases (not Arrow to my knowledge). Anyway, for all three of these you’ll want to buy the disc; nothing K can do.

FYI, if you want to quickly and easily see if K should have something that they don’t, check another digital movie store. I use Apple and Fandango for comparison.

Thank you, that explains it. I had forgotten about Arrow and didn’t know which majors boutiques lived under.
