Hi All,

Could someone tell me what a fully functioning 3U server chassis is worth please? No drives due to them becoming corrupted.

Assuming the empty chassis has no issues, it should be in the $3,000 to $4,000 range, depending on age, general physical condition, any historical problems, and remaining warranty, if any. The reason for the lower number is that it still requires drives, a minimum of 3 drives with a new file system, and those are $995 retail for the 6TB's. There are a few 4TB's remaining at $795, but those could be gone at anytime.

Of course price could be lower if looking for a quick sale, or buyer's have any concerns related to the 3U being discontinued as a component in the Premiere line.

Jim is the authority on value, but as a buyer, I'd want to know:

- why did all the drives become 'corrupted' so badly that they're unusable? and
- how can either party (buyer or seller) determine that it's 'fully functioning'?

As you'll no doubt find, most of the value of a second-hand Kaleidescape system is in the drives and their remaining support life.
